I am loving the idea of Problems Of The Week. It is interesting how different 2nd period is
from 1st and 4th with regard to the participation you get from the students. I like how we can
incorporate the idea of a Number Talk in with these visuals and opportunities to talk about a
concept and how they get an idea and defend it.

Continuing to balance visual support with the use of the iPad and TV with the white board
provide plenty of visual support. Today is a strange day with 2 of the students being absent,
and it really throws off the dynamic. When the group is so quiet, consider mixing it up by
thinking of having kids sit on the floor or group them together so they have less of an
opportunity to be anonymous and blend in. Roman, for example, was zoning out and didnt
participate the way he usually does when he sits with a classmate. I like how you just asked
them to come stand at the TV to analyze whether the lines are linear or not. Since William is
offering so much information, make sure to ask Brooke, Kaydem, and Roman questions so
they dont feel that they can avoid participating.

In addition to planning and teaching the math courses, you have been part of several IEP
meetings we have been having. I am proud of how you have really found your confidence
and you have been participating and sharing good information with families. As you can tell,
there are so many times we have staffings where the team gets together to plan and
collaborate before an IEP meeting occurs with the full team and parents. I like how you habe
been part of these meetings and had the chance to collaborate and get on the same page
with the team.
Next Steps:
-continue to bring awesome data to staffings to be prepared for IEP meetings
-have written assignments available (modules of reinforcement of recent skills) for
opportunities to push the extension groups forward when slowing down and working with
the lower/struggling students
