INTRODUCTION

Sime Darby Plantation is the plantation and agri-business arm of the Sime Darby Group, representing
one of the five core Divisions of the Group. The Division is involved in oil palm and rubber plantation
management cultivation and downstream activities, agribusiness and food, as well as Research &
Development (R&D).

The merger of Sime Darby Berhad, Golden Hope Plantations Berhad and Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad
(completed on 27 November 2007) establishes Sime Darby Plantation as one of the worlds largest
palm oil producer. Today Sime Darby Plantation produces approximately 2.8 million tonnes or 5% of
the worlds crude palm oil (CPO) output annually.

The Division spans across the Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia, Kalimantan, Sumatera and
Sulawesi in Indonesia, Liberia, Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands with landbank totaling up to
approximately 1 million hectares, of which 604,000 hectares have been planted with oil palm and
9,000 hectares with rubber. The operations involve the management of 209 estates and 57 Strategic
Operating Units
(SOUs)*

Sime Darby Plantation has also been granted by the Government of Liberia with a 63-year
concession to develop 220,000 hectares of land into oil palm and rubber plantations. Spread across 4
counties, namely Grand Cape Mount, Bomi, Bong, and Gbarpolu.

As an integrated plantation company, Sime Darby Plantation is involved in the full spectrum of the
palm oil value chain. The Divisions Downstream Operations is represented in 17 countries namely
Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Brazil, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, China,
Germany, United Kingdom, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, The Netherlands and
the United States of America. It is involved in the manufacturing and distribution of oils and fats
products, oleochemicals and palm oil-based biodiesel. Alongside oil palm, the Division is also
involved in agri-business activities and the cultivation of rubber.

of forests, the protection of wildlife and the promotion of the well-being of communities within and
around its operations.

The Company also invests heavily in R&D and is the first in the world to successfully sequence,
assemble and annotate the oil palm genome.
