CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
DESIGN PROBLEM is about the big junk that people have been throwing onto the street and
canal. The research from the Deputy of Bangkok Governor has
informed that in 2017, Bangkok has faced with almost 3,100 tons of big

furniture including table, sofa, and chair, which is almost 60% of all the
collected junk. Followed by electronics junk, which is almost 15%.
Some junk found on the street are even usable. The big junk not only
creates a bad atmosphere to the society, the size of items is one of the
problems that affect the flow of the walkway or block the footpath. So, it

makes the pedestrian difficult to move around and sometimes can be
hazardous for people in the community. But, why does this usable stuff
becomes a waste on the street? It usually happens because of the
unmindful of people who do not perceive the value of their stuff or some
do not know how to do with it.

DESIGN PROBLEM EXISTING

People find it hard to manage with the stuff that they do not want or
use anymore. So, they end up discard and leave their stuff in front of
their house or on the street and wait for the district office to pick it up
because it is the most convenient in term of time and money for
them. Another way that some people discard their stuff is by
donating it to the charity, foundation, or temple such as Suan Kaew
Foundation. But the foundation will only come to pick up the item
only there is a high amount of the item. Therefore, it would be
impossible for people who only want to discard only one or two item.
Moreover, another solution is by posting their stuff on the social
media such as Pantip or the Bangkok Expats Facebook page that
has almost 69,000 members both Thai and Foreigner. With this
solution, the problem that people have to face is that sometimes it
takes time before some of the items could be taken. Also, it may be
difficult to find the right people who are in need of the item.
Lastly, there is a PanKan foundation, a social enterprise foundation
that allowed people to donate the items, which the items will be
screened first. If it is still in a good condition, it will be sold in the
Pankan merchandise. Any profit from selling will be donated to the
foundation of underprivileged children. However, the foundation
nowadays is selling the donated item at a price almost equal to the
new item selling in the market. Because the foundation wants to
have a lot of the profit, it makes people do not want to support the
foundation anymore.

DESIGN PROBLEM PAIN

It is clearly seen that there are some pain points
that people are facing the existing solution to
discard their item. The problem that seems to
have a high pain and happens to most of the
people is the location that people do not know
where to drop or discard the item and who
would want the item so, sometimes people
choose to leave it in front of their house as it is
easier and more convenient. Followed by, the
problem about the size of the items that
sometimes it is a big item so, it takes much
space in their house before people could find
someone to pick it up. The waiting time before
the item will be pick up has the lowest pain
because people will just leave the item in front
of their house and wait for the carriage to pick it
up.

more customers. So, it is a channel that the company would able
to gain more profit. Also, they could use the location feature on
the application as a tool to find the location of the giver and the
receiver so that they could plan the delivery journey.
