PraiseBeToALLAHSWT,

Peopleoftenforgettheimportanceofthesimpleyetpowerfuldua(supplication)
Istighfari.e.,sayingAstaghfirullah(IseekforgivenessofAllah).ProphetMuhammad
(peacebeuponhim)recitedthisatleast100timesaday.Letusseethebenefitsand
virtuesofrecitingthissimplebeautifulsupplicationinshaAllah.

Istighfar(Astaghfirullah)isthegatewayofreliefandhappiness.Wheneveryouarein
distressstartrecitingitandInshaAllahitwilltakeyououtofyouranxietyandwillput
youinapeacefulsituationandwillgiveyouhappiness.
Istighfarremovesanxietyandduasareanswered.
Istighfaropensthedoorofsustenance.
Istighfaropensthedoorofmercy.
Istighfaropensthedoorofknowledge.
Istighfarisalsogatewayofproductivity.
Istighfarrelievesyou.Whenyoufeelthatsadnesswithinyou,whenyouaredisturbed
andfrustrated,whenanxietysurroundsyou,sayAstaghfirullahAstaghfirullah
RecitingAstaghfiruallahisaneffectivemethodofcalmingourselfandwipesawaythe
varietyofworldlyworriesfromourmindandbody.Itmayalsohelpus,ifweare
sufferingfromdepression,itcalmusandlessenourdepression.
Astaghfirullahalsohelpsustorefrainfromallformsofsins.Regularlysayingthis
remindsusthatAllahiseverywhereandinthiswaythereisverysmallchancesofdoing
wrongfulactions.
IbnAbbas(MayAllahbepleasedwiththem)said:TheMessengerofAllah(peacebe
uponhim)said,
Ifanyoneconstantlyseekspardon(fromAllah),Allahwillappointforhimawayout
ofeverydistressandarelieffromeveryanxiety,andwillprovidesustenanceforhim
fromwhereheexpectsnot.[AbuDawud].

Inanotherhadith,AbdullahbinAbbas(MayAllahbepleasedwiththem)narratesthat
Rasulullah(SallallahuAlayhiWasallam)said:
Theonewho(regularly)saysIstighfaar,thatis,frequentlyrepenttoAllahTaaalafor
sinscommitted,AllahAzzaWaJalwillopenapathfrompovertyanddifficulties.All
sorrowandhardshipwillberemoved,andinitsplaceprosperityandcontentment
granted.Onewillreceivesustenancefromunimaginedandunexpectedsources.

Rasulullah(SallallahuAlayhiWasallam)hassaidinanotherHadith:
TheonewhoseeksforgivenessforMuslimmalesandfemalesfromAllahTaaala
twentysixortwentyfivetimeseveryday,AllahTaalawillcountthatpersonamong
thosewhoseDuaisaccepted,andthroughthebarakahofwhomthoseonearthgain
Rizq(sustenance).

DoTasbihofAstaghfaaratleast100timesdailyasitistheSunnahofProphet
Muhammad(peacebeuponhim).
Inoneminute,youcansayAstaghfiruAllaahmorethan100times!Thevirtueof
seekingforgivenessiswellknown,itisareasonofobtainingforgiveness,entering
Paradise,havinggoodprovisions,increasingonesstrength,repellingharm,having
affairsfacilitated,thedescentofrain,andincreasinginwealthandchildren.
Thedoorsofrepentancearealwaysopenthereforedontdelayyourrepentanceina
hopeoftomorrow,astomorrowisuncertain,Repentnowandmakeitahabittoask
AllahsforgivenessbyrecitingAstaghfirullah.
SayIbelieveinAllahsmercy,Ihavesinned,Ihavegoneastray,Ihavebeennegligent,
butstillIbelieveinAllahssoothingmercyandforgiveness,Illnotdespair!
IMPORTANCEOFISTIGHFARFROMTHEQURAN:

Oneofthe99NamesofAllahisAlGhaffaar(
)TheGreatForgiverTheForgiver,
theOnewhoforgivesthesinsofHisslavestimeandtimeagain.Therearenumerous
versesintheQuranabouttheimportanceofaskingforforgivenessofAllahSWT.Here
arefewofthem:

And(commandingyou):SeektheforgivenessofyourLord,andturntoHimin
repentance,thatHemaygrantyougoodenjoyment,foratermappointed,andbestow
HisaboundingGracetoeveryownerofgrace(i.e.theonewhohelpsandservesneedy
anddeserving,physicallyandwithhiswealth,andevenwithgoodwords).Butifyou
turnaway,thenIfearforyouthetormentofaGreatDay(i.e.theDayofResurrection).
[Hud11:3]

Declare(OMuhammadSAW)untoMyslaves,thattruly,IamtheOftForgiving,the
MostMerciful.[AlHijr15:49]

Then,verily!YourLordforthosewhodoevil(commitsinsandaredisobedientto
Allh)inignoranceandafterwardrepentanddorighteousdeeds,verily,yourLord
thereafter,(tosuch)isOftForgiving,MostMerciful.[AnNahl16:119]
YourLordknowsbestwhatisinyourinnerselves.Ifyouarerighteous,then,verily,He
isEverMostForgivingtothosewhoturnuntoHimagainandagaininobedience,andin
repentance.[AlIsra17:25]

Andverily,IamindeedForgivingtohimwhorepents,believes(inMyOneness,and
associatesnoneinworshipwithMe)anddoesrighteousgooddeeds,andthenremains
constantindoingthem,(tillhisdeath).[TaHa20:82]

Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said in another Hadith:
The one who seeks forgiveness for Muslim males and females from Allah Taaala twenty six or twenty
five times every day, Allah Taala will count that person among those whose Dua is accepted, and
through the barakah of whom those on earth gain Rizq (sustenance).
