The institution of marriage houses and supports several distinct aspects of human life:

sexual relations, friendship and companionship, love, conversation, procreation and child-
rearing, mutual responsibility. Marriages can exist without each of these. Now lets talk some of
the aspects of marriage. Marriage has, first, a civil rights aspect. Married people get a lot of
government benefits that the unmarried usually do not get: favourable treatment in tax,
inheritance, and insurance status; immigration rights; rights in adoption and custody; decisional
and visitation rights in health care and burial; the spousal privilege exemption when giving
testimony in court; and yet others. Marriage also has an expressive aspect. When people get
married, they typically make a statement of love and commitment in front of witnesses. Most
people who get married view that statement as a very important part of their lives. Being able
to make it, and to make it freely (not under duress) is taken to be definitive of adult human
freedom. The statement made by the marrying couple is usually seen as involving an answering
statement on the part of society: we declare our love and commitment, and society, in
response, recognizes and dignifies that commitment. Government plays a key role in these
aspects of marriage. It confers and administers benefits. It seems, at least, to operate as an
agent of recognition or the granting of dignity.

These people seek acceptance and tolerance from the society. As what the first speaker
said the Philippines ranks highly with secular countries when accepting homosexuality in the
society. They were given attention by the society. If we talk about dignity and respect, the LGBT
were respected because they also have the rights. The thing that really caught the attention is
that they want to marry the same sex. It does not only violate the natural law but it also violates
the Constitution. Marriage is sacred. In the Family Code of the Philippines states that marriage is
between a man and a woman (Art. 1). This does not apply to Same Sex Marriage. Besides,
many of the potential complications that are legitimate (e.g. one man living with another - his
partner - over a lifetime, without marriage recognition) can be dealt with through other legal
instruments, so same-sex marriage is not essential.

If ever Gay marriage will be allowed in the Philippines, when it comes to adopting
children, a number of child adoption may increase as a result of the legalisation of gay
marriage, that is not necessarily a good thing to the society overall. There is only little research
being done on whether children raised under gay parents will be disadvantaged compared to
others, but it is recognized that a straight household is the optimum environment to raise
children. Urban institutors and social scientist agree that children that are in other household
arrangements, for example gay or lesbian household, will have a higher risk of lifestyle, for
example truancy, poor performance at school, dropping out of school, taking on drugs and
alcohol etc. Further, the absence of father or mother in a gay household often causes social and
financial problems. In addition, children raised by homosexual parents are continually exposed
to homosexuality. As a result, they are at a higher risk of becoming homosexual themselves and
their behaviour will be more or less affected by the growing environment. On top of that,
children will have a greater chance to be discriminated and bullied by other classmates, and this
could have a negative effect on their development.

Statistics have shown that children raised in a homosexual household will costs the
society billions of dollars in social welfare and law-enforcement expenses. For instance,
government is required to spend extra money on the benefits and protection programs for gay
couples. Also, the allowance of gay marriage may lead to the increased number of non-serious
marriage. Secondly, many studies and researches have concluded that homosexual behaviour
will results in a greater risk of health problems, such as AIDS, psychological disorders as well as a
much lower life expectancy. This will add to the cost of the hospital industry.

Homosexual relation is not biologically natural as the union of same-sex couples can
never naturally produce offspring. One of the main purposes of marriage is to create the best
environment for raising children. While gay couples do not have the ability to procreate, only
natural marriage can consistently provide a stable and nurturing environment for the growth of
the next generation. On top of that, researches have strengthened this idea, showing that the
optimum environment for the growth and maturation of children is under the education and
protection from a father a mother. People believe that it is the best for children that they are
raised by their biological parents.
