Petrofac International Ltd. (Abu Dhabi, UAE) Project Engineer, ECOM (2012 2016)
Provider of facilities to major international Oil and Gas players. Worked on the UZ-750 project- a $4 billion offshore field
development project in the UAE located on artificial islands 80km off the coast of Abu Dhabi. Comprises engineering, procurement,
modules & building fabrication, transportation, construction and commissioning of island surface facilities.
Project Management
Managed and coordinated with an engineering design team of 250 members based out of India, JV partner team of 20 members
based out of Korea and client team of 15 members based out of UAE
Analyzed and de-modularized key elements of a stick-built module (onsite) to reduce transportation and logistics costs as well
as reduce tonnage on the SPMT transportations, resulting in an overall saving of $22.39 million
Coordinated Fabrication activities with Middle East and Far East yards. Supervised and mentored team of multiple field
engineers deployed from design offices to different yards for field engineering support
Coordinated with Client Operations, Drilling and Executive Management teams to assess risks on construction on project
island due to drill rig movement; developed mitigation measures, resulting in the avoidance of resource idling of high cost rig
Implemented a win-win situation with client through optimized routing arrangement in the well area that provided flexibility in
operations and savings in commodities worth $1.9 million
Analyzed the risk in the delay of deliverables and worked with project control and operations to develop a recovery schedule
that mitigated delays by 33%
Improved 126 welding procedures for the project modules that saved approx. 7,100 man days at the project island
Contracts/ Commercial Management:
Led a critical process change assignment on the project. The compensation and claim value was a subject of dispute. Chaired
multiple discussions with key stakeholders, identified contractual obligations and provisions, and successfully negotiated a
claim value of $10 million from the client
Performed commercial bid evaluation of Vendor offers and subcontracts for packages ranging from $ 2 million to $ 50 million.
Drafted complex work packages and contracts for Subcontractors and Fabricators scope of services with provisions for change
imbedded into the contract
Design Engineering:
Optimized fire proofing design for jet fire scenarios that minimized inventory; resulted in savings of more than $11 million
Designed the underground GRE (Nonmetallic) pipe system without anchor blocks and thrusts, which delivered savings of $1.8
million through reduced fabrication time, build up & excavation costs
Change Management:
Championed the change management process in ZADCO project by coordinating and managing a cross-functional team
comprised of Petrofac employees, JV partners and other stakeholders across 4 business segments in 4 different countries
Identification changes early; assessed impact to commodities and potential disruption to ongoing activity and developed
suitable corrective measures which achieved minimal disruption in the project schedule and adherence to milestones
