1 Whats New in the CTA Software Version 4.52?

1.1 Updated user manual

The user manual has been updated in terms of safety-relevant aspects and the user manual is now
additionally available in Korean, Portuguese and Polish language.

After installation of the new CT Analyzer 4.52 Toolset on a PC, all new user manuals are available. Please
note that the contents in the new user manuals are important for a proper CT Analyzer operation.

The user manual provides information on how to use the CT Analyzer. The CT Analyzer User Manual
contains important safety instructions for working with the CT Analyzer and gets you familiar with operating
the CT Analyzer. Read and observe the safety rules described in "Safety Rules" and all relevant installation
and operation instructions. Following the instructions in the user manual will help you to prevent danger,
repair costs, and avoid possible down time due to incorrect operation.
The CT Analyzer User Manual always has to be available at the site where the CT Analyzer is used. It must
be read and observed by all users of the CT Analyzer. Reading the CT Analyzer User Manual alone does
not release you from the duty to comply with all relevant national and international safety regulations.
1.2 New features and improvements in the automated assessment for IEC and IEEE
class CTs
According to the standards, for multi-ratio CT testing using the CT SB2 switchbox, the accuracy assessment
should be done for the full tap only. With the 4.52 toolset, the inner taps are additionally automatically
assessed regarding the ratio and polarity.

If the assessment of a CT measurement is not available (n/a), the new CT Analyzer Toolset gives
information about the background of the unavailability. The assessment description can be found in the GUI
or in the Excel report. Details about the assessment and information about the reason for the n/a
assessment can be found in the details (GUI) or the commented cell (Excel).

The assessment of IEEE C-class CTs has been improved. CT Analyzer now follows exactly the definition of
the IEEE C57.13 (2016) standard regarding the accuracy requirements for C-class CTs. CT Analyzer
considers the ratio error at rated secondary current Isn and at 20 times rated secondary current for standard
burden according to the terminal voltage rating of the CT (Vb) and checks if the ratio correction does not
exceed 3 % resp. 10 % for these operation points (and below).

The assessment does not include the determination of the voltage across the standard burden where the
ratio correction is exactly 10 %. This is sometimes requested by users to validate the terminal voltage rating
of an unknown CT and is thus displayed informatively.
1.3 Integration of the new IEEE standard C57.13 which was published in 2016
With the publication of the new IEEE C57.13 standard, besides some minor improvements the following
adaptions have been incorporated in the CT Analyzer Toolset 4.52:

New CT classes 0.15N and 0.3S

For relaying CTs, additional burdens B-0.1, B-0.2 and B-0.5 can be selected
Electronic burdens are not included in the general assessment of CTs (fulfill accuracy requirements
for rated burden and below). The CT performance for electronic burdens need to be assessed
separately.
Informative: For C and T class relaying window-type CTs with 50 secondary turns or less, the ratio
error at rated current may exceed 3 % (new important note in the C57.13 standard).

1.4 Localization of Portuguese and Korean language

CT Analyzer on-device software and PC software are now additionally available in Korean and Portuguese
language. Aside from the localized GUI, the documentation (manual, online help) is also available in these
languages.

1.5 Optimized winding resistance measurement

With the new CT Analyzer Toolset 4.52 an optimized winding resistance measurement is released. The new
filter algorithm makes the winding resistance test more robust. Measurements in very noisy environments,
measurements of very small winding resistances and measurements with a high influence of the magnetic
core can be performed with a very high reliability and accuracy now.

1.6 CT Analyzer update checker integrated in PC toolset

The newly implemented update checker automatically looks for updates and informs you when a new CT
Analyzer update is available. The update can be started automatically or the installation can be done
manually after downloading the software from the customer area.
1.7 Updated Application Note CT Analyzer on-site calibration instructions
The Application Note describing how to calibrate the CT Analyzer using a reference CT has been updated
and is now available for 50 Hz and 60 Hz.
