Special aspects

Introduction

The five previous modules provided basic and advanced knowledge concerning usage of water in laundries,
machine technology, washing processes, application of detergents and energy (in general and specifically for
laundries). Learning contents of the modules are based on latest developments in the laundry sector.
Implementation of sustainable production is in the focus of this teaching and learning tool.

Efficient production is more than application of machines, water, detergents and energy. The whole is more than
sum of its parties (Aristoteles, 60 BC). Efficient production is to use resources and control processes
optimally. That means, efficient production is sustainable production.

Optimal application of resources and controlling are linked directly and enhance each other reciprocally as well as
production capacity (see module 1: Usage of water and module 5: Energy!). Within this module, all special aspects
of a sustainable production shall be taught with main focus on validation, monitoring, controlling and documentation
as well as complete (integrated) management systems.

Those processes boost besides efficiency, reliability and warranty of textiles availability to the customer thus
overall quality of production processes.

After finishing this module, you will:

know special water- and waste water treatment systems as well as combined systems such as not yet
introduced in module 1

gain advanced knowledge about microorganisms in water and thus different effects on water quality

know what validation means and what validation procedures are

know why validation procedures are applied

know the procedure of validation processes

know what monitoring means and how monitoring processes are implemented in laundry practice

know what controlling means and how controlling processes are implemented in laundry practice
be able to differentiate as well as to explain the difference between validation, monitoring and controlling

know what management systems are and be able to explain

recognize and be able to explain the (additional) use of management systems
