INTRODUCTION:
Naan Chaney is truly dish of Lahore. I have never seen so much variety anywhere else in
Pakistan. One can find shops of Naan Chaney everywhere in Lahore and taste wise all are
different. Favorite breakfast of people of Lahore is truly Naan Chaney.
Just for Sake of adventure, foodie inside me decided to try different shops of Naan Chaney in
Lahore to check taste variation in this dish. So far tried 100 places of Naan Chaney in Lahore.
Decided to document my findings for benefit of other foodies. Majority of famous places of naan
Chaney are covered in this sample size.

1) Mutton/Desi Murgh Chaney of Hall Road:
Address Small shop located on Hall Road inside narrow street. Just enter Hall road
from Mall Road Side. After twenty meters, a street on your left hand side
going inside. Take that street. Chaney shop is in that street. Basically a
triangle is formed and this street goes to mall road in shape of triangle.
Shop Setup Small shop with sitting capacity of 10 to 15 people.
Suitable Timing Naan Chaney available at lunch time. Shop is closed in morning. On
Sunday shop is also closed. Basically cater the needs of Hall road
electronics market.
Parking Etc Parking issues at Hall Road. No parking during day timing. Best option is
to park car at Mall Road and to walk of nearly ten minutes to reach this
shop. However people on motorbike can easily reach this shop
Items Being Basically place is famous for Mutton Chaney.
offered Mutton Kofta, Desi Eggs also available.
On Meat Less days, Desi Murgh Chaney is available.
Good quality raita/salad served with Naan Chaney.
Cold drinks not available at shop.
Quality of Naan Place has no tandoor. Sometimes fresh naan are served from nearby
tandoor and sometimes naan from bulk supply available at shop is served.
It also depends on what you order. People that order mutton Chaney can
expect fresh crisp Naan.
Review of Chaney Mixed opinion on Naan Chaney of this place. Some say its over rated
place, good number of people say its best place in Lahore for naan
Chaney.
As per my taste buds, Chaney are less spicy. People fond of spicy food
would consider these tasteless.
Mutton Yakhni is mixed in Chaney and these are further cooked at the
spot. Some additional oil is added on the top at the time of serving.
Place offers one of best quality mutton/Desi Murgh in Lahore. Actual
taste of Chaney comes with mutton. Its Machli boti is amazing.
Quality of Mutton kofta and Desi eggs are also excellent.
Basically its combination of mutton which makes Chaney good.

Suitable for Not suitable for eating with family. One can get these packed and eat at
Family home.
Per Head Cost Desi Anda Chaney would cost you around 120 per head.
Mutton Kofta Chaney would cost you around 200 per head.
Mutton Chaney with Machli boti would cost you 650 per head but
mutton piece is quite big and enough for two persons.
Regular mutton piece would cost you around 400.

2) Ghulam Rasool Mutton/Desi Murgh Chaney, Neela Gumbad:
Address Shop located in Neela Gumbad, Anarkali inside narrow street. After UBL,
walk towards Medical college side and after nearly 30 meters, a road
street would be turning right. Ghulam Rasool Chaney wala is in that
street. Very famous in area. Can ask any local.
Shop Setup Very big setup. Sitting of more than 100 people. One big shop for male
foodies. One small shop for family. Outside sitting in street also.
Suitable Timing Closed in Morning. Available for Lunch only. Shop opened on Sunday
also.
Parking Etc Parking issues in routing days. Good plus point is that shop is opened on
Sunday also. So one should try this place on Sunday when market is
closed and one would easily get parking.
Items Being Mutton Chaney on routine days.
offered Desi Murgh Chaney on meat less days.
Mutton kofta and broiler Chicken eggs also offered.
Excellent Salad/raita served with Chaney.

Quality of Naan Place offer khamiri roti instead of regular Naan. Place has its own
tandoor. So one should expect crisp hot khamiri roti that goes well with
naan Chaney
Review of Chaney Excellent light Chaney.
Some consider it over rated but majority agree that its one of best naan
Chaney in Lahore.
Quality of Mutton, Desi Murgh, Kofta, Salad and raita is excellent.
Hot Ghulab Jaman is also added plus.
No major weakness as per my taste buds.

Suitable for Small family area in shop. Suitable for enjoying with family on Sunday
Family when markets are closed and one can easily park car in front of naan
Chaney shop. Chaney can be enjoyed in car or in family hall.
Per Head Cost Simple Chaney would cost you around 60, Anda Chaney around 80,
Mutton Kofta Chaney around 180.
Mutton Chaney would cost you around 300.
Ghulab Jaman would cost you around 30 rupees per plate.

Remarks People that love Naan Chaney must try this place. Best time to go there is
on Sunday when all markets are closed.

3) Saleem Mutton Chaney, Truck Adda, Fruit Mandi, Timber Market:
Address Shop located at Truck Adda, Fruit Mandi, Timber Market, Ravi Road. In
front of Metro on Ravi Road, a road going inside timber market. Travel
straight until road ends. Two turns at the end. Take right turn and you
would be there at Truck Adda of Fruit Mandi. Car cannot go inside due to
rush. One need to park car before Truck Adda. Walk of hardly 50 meters
and you would reach shop.
Shop Setup Quite spacious shop with sitting capacity of more than 25 people. But
place is not suitable for family. Very old shop of Naan Chaney.
Suitable Timing One should reach there early at 08:00 AM to get good mutton pieces like
Machli Boti. Chaney available for breakfast.
Parking Etc No parking in front of shop due to rush. But one can easily park car before
start of fruit Mandi. Plenty of parking space there.

White butter also goes well with Chaney.

Family family. As one cannot park car in front of shop, so family cannot eat in car
also. No serving in Car for family.

kofta Chaney or Desi Anda Chaney would cost you around 100 to 150.
Price is reasonable and one can take extra gravy.

quite big. If two people are going there, one should order one mutton
Chaney and one kofta/Anda Chaney.

4) Baba Taj Din Mutton Chaney of Montgomery Road, Lahore:
Address Shop located nearly in mid of Montgomery Road Lahore. Road is famous
for Car auto parts and near Lakshami Chowk. Very old place of Lahore
for Mutton Chaney.
Shop Setup Small setup. Chaney stall is on ground floor and sitting is on first floor.
Not big setup and shop is also not so much prominent from outside.
Suitable Timing Chaney available for Lunch
Parking Etc No parking on road. Too much rush and traffic madness. One should visit
this place on motor cycle. Basically this shop caters needs of auto market.
Not suitable for outside visitors due to rush in area.
Items Being Mutton Chaney, Anda Chaney

Quality of Naan No tandoor at shop. So one should expect rubbery Naan
Review of Chaney Quality of mutton and Chaney is good.
Taste is reduced due to Rubbery Naan served with Chaney.
These are good for take away and eating at home with fresh naan.
Due to traffic madness in the area, this place failed to gain popularity
like other places in Lahore.

5) Jeela Butt Mutton/Desi Murgh Chaney in Shadbagh:
Address Very famous name of Lahore. Shop is on Amir Road, Shadbagh.

Shop Setup Quite big shop. Sitting of around 20 to 30 people.
Suitable Timing Available for breakfast
Parking Etc No parking problem at shop. In morning, majority of shops are closed so
one can easily park car near shop
Items Being Small Payee
offered Mutton Chaney and on meat less days, he serves Desi Murgh Chaney
Kofta, Anda Chaney Available.
Quality of Naan Quality of Naan is good as there is tandoor adjacent to shop. So one shop
expect crisp naan and Kulcha
Review of Chaney Mixed review on Chaney of this place. Some people rate them best
Chaney of Lahore. For some, this is over rated place. I tried mutton
Chaney and taste was ok. Nothing extra ordinary or exceptional. However
taste varies from person to person. Very famous place in Lahore. Place
attracts good rush.
Did not try its Small payee, so cannot say anything about their taste.
Classification of I would rate these Chaney as Elite group of Chaney due to its popularity
Chaney in Lahore.
Suitable for No family sitting at shop. However families can easily eat in car.

6) Ghousia Mutton Chaney, Lohari Gate:
Address Small shop located deep inside Lohari Gate. One need to park car outside
Lohari gate and do walk of nearly one Km on foot. Motor cycle can go
there. Very famous shop in the area. Every local know about it.
Shop Setup Small shop. Sitting of around 20 people on ground floor and first floor.
Majority of customers get these packed instead of eating at shop.
Basically this shop caters needs of Lohari gate residents.
Suitable Timing Shop opens for breakfast. Suitable timing would be from 07:00 AM to
10:00 AM.
Parking Etc Car cannot go inside Lohari gate. One need to park car outside Lohari gate
and do walk of one km on foot.
Items Being Anda Chaney, Kofta Chaney
offered Mutton Chaney
Quality of Naan One can get good quality naan from nearby tandoor after wait of nearly 05
minutes. Shop has no tandoor and nearby tandoor caters need of this shop.
It also depends on your order. If you order mutton Chaney, waiter would
bring fresh naan for you. Otherwise for regular customers, naan are kept
in bulk at shop.
Review of Chaney Good gravy type Chaney. Somewhat heavy but taste is good. Quality of
Mutton Machli boti is also good. He adds some almonds in Chaney which
is new thing and not seen anywhere else in Lahore. So over all Chaney
with mutton Machli boti is recommended.

Suitable for Not suitable for family. One can get these packed and eat at home

Per Head Cost Mutton Chaney with Machli Boti would cost you around 400. Anda
Chaney, kofta Chaney etc would cost you around 100 to 150.

Remarks One time try is must. Place is difficult to reach on Car but easy on motor
cycle or foot.

7) Hafiz Mutton Chaney, Lohari Gate:
Address Small shop inside Lohari Gate. Hardly 100 meter from entrance of Lohari
gate.
Shop Setup Small shop with sitting of around ten persons. Majority of his customers
get Chaney packed and eat at home. Basically cater the needs of people
living in Lohari Gate.
Suitable Timing Shop opens for breakfast and opens at 07:30 AM. One should reach there
early at 08:00 AM, otherwise after that there is too much rush.
Parking Etc Car cannot go inside Lohari gate but plenty of parking available early
morning at the entrance of Lohari Gate. Motor Cycles can easily go there.
offered Anda Chaney, Kofta Chaney
Simple Chaney
Quality of Naan No Tandoor at shop. Naan kept in bulk at shop for regular customers.
However for order of Mutton Chaney with Machli Boti, waiter brings
fresh naan from nearby tandoor. It also depends on rush on shop. If there
is rush on shop, naan is supplied from bulk quality which is rubbery and
not crisp.
Review of Chaney Good Chaney with Mutton Machli Boti. Quality of mutton is excellent.
First he adds simple Chaney, then some mutton Yakhni and oil. Taste is
excellent if enjoyed with fresh Kulcha from nearby tandoor. Chaney are
light and not heavy at all.

Chaney and kofta Chaney is not expensive and per head cost would be
maximum 100 to 150.

Remarks Try is must for Chaney Lovers. One trick is to get fresh naan from nearby
tandoor. If waiter refuses to bring fresh naan, bring it yourself from
nearby tandoor.

8) Mano Desi Murgh Chaney in Sultan Pura:
Address Small shop in Sultan Pura which is behind Lahore railway station. Enter
from Doo Moria Pull and travel back to railway station side. At end two
turns, take left turn and road going inside sultan Pura. Chaney wala is on
that road before big mosque. Very famous place in Sultan Pura. All locals
know about it.
Shop Setup Small shop with sitting of around ten people. There are tables and chairs
outside shop for sitting also. No rush on road early morning. So plenty of
place for eating.
Suitable Timing This place offers one of best small payee. On meat less days (Wednesday
& Thursday) he cooks excellent Desi Murgh Chaney. Stock is limited and
everything is finished within one hour. One should reach there early
morning at 05:30 AM to get Chaney.
Parking Etc No Parking issue. No rush early morning and cars can easily be parked in
front of shop.
Items Being Small payee on regular days.
offered Desi Murgh Chaney on Wednesday and Thursday.
Simple Chaney and Anda Chaney also available.
Quality of Naan Excellent Quality of Kulcha due to adjacent tandoor. However some
Kulcha are also kept at shop. One should ask waiter to bring fresh Kulcha
from adjacent tandoor. Overall quality of naan is best in Lahore.
Review of Chaney One of best Chaney in Lahore. Quality of Desi Murgh is also excellent
and chicken pieces are properly cooked. Very light Shorba type Chaney
that are not heavy at all. No additional spices in Chaney. Just simple
Chaney but excellent taste.
Classification of Easily Quality for Elite Group of Chaney. In fact one of best in Lahore.

Suitable for Families can easily eat in Car. Service is also good. Only difficulty is
Family timing. One should reach there at 05:30 AM at every cost.
Per Head Cost Desi Murgh Chaney would cost you around 350. Simple Chaney and
Anda Chaney would cost you around 100 rupees which is very reasonable.

Remarks Place must be tried at every cost. Its small payee is also excellent. One
should try both. Amazing place of Lahore. Truly Hidden Gem.

9) Tara Butt Desi Murgh Chaney, Gawalmandi:
Address Shop in located on Railway road in Gawalmandi. Exactly in front of

Feeka Lassi Wala. Both places are very famous in the area.
Shop Setup In fact no sitting at shop. Its just road side cart. Two to three benches in
front of car and few people eat on cart. Not much sitting
Suitable Timing Available for breakfast. Suitable time to go there is early morning from
07:00 AM to 08:00 AM. Stock is finished fast.
Parking Etc No issue of parking. Not that much rush early morning when shops are
closed. One can easily get parking near shop.
Items Being Simple chaney and Anda Chaney
offered Desi Murgh Shorba
Quality of Naan Quality of naan is excellent. Hot naan from nearby tandoor. One of best
Kulcha in Lahore. No issue with naan. Just ask waiter to bring fresh naan
from nearby tandoor.
Review of Chaney Basically two items on shop. Chaney and Desi Murgh Shorba. Tara Butt
adds chicken Shorba in chaney and cook at shop. Desi Murgh Shorba can
also be enjoyed. What I do is ask him to give me one plate simple chaney
and add leg piece of Desi Murgh in chaney. You can also eat two dishes
separable. Desi Murgh Shorba is very light just like Yakhni. Combination
of Desi Murgh Shorba and chaney is excellent. Chaney are very light. Not
heavy or oily at all.
Classification of Classify for Elite group of chaney based on its taste and popularity.

Suitable for Families can enjoy in car. Easy parking early morning and service is also
Family good. They would serve you in car

Remarks Must be visited. Basic idea is to mix Desi Murgh Shorba and chaney in
one bowl and eating chaney with Desi Murgh Leg piece. Desi Murgh Leg
pieces are in high demand and finished early morning. Dont listen to
language of Tara Butt. He speaks very adult language.

10) Ustad Bola Desi Murgh Chaney, Bagh Munshi Ladha, Texali, Ravi Road:
Address Shop is located at Bagh Munshi Ladha, Texali, Ravi Road. From Data
Sahib travel towards Minare Pakistan. Just before flyover, a road turning
left and going inside. Ustad Bola is on that road. Hardly 100 meter from
that turning.
Shop Setup Quite big shop. Sitting of more than 50 people.
Suitable Timing Available for breakfast. Not much time restrictions. Opens early morning
at 06:00 AM and easily available till 01:00 PM.
Parking Etc Plenty of parking early morning. No issue of parking.

Quality of Naan Quality of Naan is good as tandoor is adjacent to shop. One should ask
waiter to bring fresh naan instead of naan kept in bulk at shop.
