1 Scope
This standard defines tests and requirements of cataphoretic paint on metallic materials.

2 Application
The cataphoretic paint is used to have a regular thickness of paint even with complex shapes and
to give a high corrosion protection. It is applied on steel, zinc coated steel, cast iron and
aluminium parts.
This paint consists of application of an organic protective coating by electrophoretic deposition
with the part as cathode in the immersion bath.

Cataphoretic paint is not allowed for steel parts with tensile strength 1000 MPa (Hardness 31
HRC) to avoid any hydrogen embrittlement risk.

The coating materials specified herein must not contain Cr VI (hexavalent chromium) or Lead.

3 Coating process
The process steps include:
Cleaning and preparation
Phosphate coating type E according 0204Y81064 standard.
Paint application by cathodic immersion.
Curing
