ZHA UNBUILT- Galerie Jaroslava Fragnera

A series of experimental works by ZAHA HADID ARCHITECTS. Exhibition review

This show focused on exhibiting a set of unrealized experimental projects illustrating the continuous
process, innovations, and research in the architectural parametricism by zha.
Zaha, a pioneer architect and visionary who reshaped the architecture of the contemporary world, was
always an experimentalist. Her projects are rich in spatial composition, pure in geometry and fluid in lines.
An architecture enthusiast/student who visits an exhibition of projects of Zaha hadid is bound to have a high
expectation on the same.
Having labeled the exhibition as illustration and processes behind the unrealized projects, it would have
been interesting to see the real processes and concepts illustrated. However it turned out to be a display of
computer generated imageries. Most of them are attractive and generates curiosity and imagination. But it
failed make a mark in the mind because of thoughtless composition of large number of rendered images.
The exhibition does not have a focus of attraction. The only interesting elements were the physical models
displayed, it would have been nice to see a few more of them displayed and had they freed up the wall off
the images which could have been avoided, for instance too many towers of similar style and character.
The projects featured in the category of shells were inspiring and interesting. As I told it would have
interesting to know more about the form finding exercises, at least it could have been shown in the video
presentation which was setup at the entrance of the exhibition.
Though the projects were really inspiring and worth thinking over again and again, the setting of the
exhibition of projects of architect Zahas stature could have been better.
PS: Sadly the VR was not working to take a look at that.
