Course Description:
This course is designed to teach kids proper lifting techniques and principles. They will
be guided through a program that will improve their personal fitness level.

Content Standards:
1. Students demonstrate competency in lifting skills, techniques and concepts.
2. Students demonstrate fitness literacy and behaviors associated with it.
3. Students demonstrate personal and social responsibility, understand the benefits
of physical activity, and respect diversity among people in physical activity
settings.

Performance Standards:
Students at the proficient performance level will consistently perform the required
lifts, and demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of the concepts,
techniques, and skills required to improve their personal fitness level. They will
perform at the proficient level regularly and recognize and use all safety principles,
techniques, and procedures that will enable them to reach their personal fitness goals.

Assessments:
60% of grade from daily participation
30% of grade from assessments: written tests consisting of short answer & essay
questions, weight maxes.
10% of grade from Semester Final

Course Materials
Clothing that is modest and allows movement. No skins or tank tops. Please bring clean
clothes at the beginning of each week. When in gym, only non-marking soled gym shoes
can be worn. NO HATS! Locks will be given out and must be returned at the end of the
semester. Keep your lockers locked at all times. Get a folder for all your assignments,
handouts, and tests. You will receive a grade on this. Keep a pencil in your locker.
