visiting Patagonia. You'll thank us later!

Fir st t h in gs f ir st .

Climate
- Keep track of the climate. It can go from rainy and cold to warm and sunny in no
time in the summer. It can get quite cold in the afternoons and night times, too.
Clothing
- On board or off our ferries, we want you to be as comfortable as possible. We
recommend you take outdoor sporting clothes of good quality. The ferry in
particular has pleasant temperatures but you must keep in mind that summer
nights and even in the daytime it can get cold. We recommend you wear
sweaters or fleece jackets all the time, parkas, pants, hats, gloves and trekking
shoes or boots depending on the weather.

Want another tip? Bring two pairs of shoes, along with sunglasses and sunscreen. And
don?t forget your winter ear covers to protect them from the icy winds.

The fishing harbor of Angelmó is now full of

tourist attractions, a must see for any traveller.

Wh at t o do in Pu er t o M on t t

In the city
- There's nothing like taking a stroll to the city?s Cathedral, notable for its architectural
design which evokes comparison with the colossal Parthenon in Athens, Greece. The
heritage of the German colonization in the area has an obvious influence in its
architecture. Built entirely from alerce wood (a cousin of the American redwood) in
1856, it?s the oldest building in Puerto Montt.
- Eat away at the fishing harbor of Angelmó, located just two kilometers from Puerto
Montt?s Plaza de Armas main square. First built in the late 19th century, it is now full of
tourist attractions, a must see in the itinerary of any traveller.

A tip from the locals: Inside the cathedral you will find the original act of foundation of the
city along with the foundation stone, which gives a special historical significance to this
stronghold of faith.·

- Cross over to Tenglo island in a fishing boat from Puerto Montt harbor and be on the
lookout of playful toninas (small dolphins with a black back and white belly) that
often follow the boats, making this ride unforgettable.
- Stand exactly on the place where continental Chile goes underwater into the Pacific
Ocean. The Reloncaví Sound is where the Chilean territory splits into thousands of
small islands and islets that make up an intricate maze of channels and fjords.
- If you?re looking for a great trekking experience and to see Patagonian redwoods
much closer, then plan a day visit to the Alerce Andino National Park.
A tip from the locals: It would be best to travel to the Tenglo Island in group given a few
reports of lone travellers getting lost or having their belongings stolen while visiting.
