Unlike first-generation unified devices, truly converged HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage does not
create inflexible capacity pools between block and file, or require you to run workloads that are
best served by block over file. Instead, you get a platform that is both flash-optimized and built
from the ground up to leverage a single, converged capacity for block volumes and file shares
with lower total cost of storage3 while offering uncompromising availability.

With the HPE 3PAR File Persona Software Suite, you can unlock the native file services and
object access capabilities within your HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage, made possible by the
HPE 3PAR Operating System Software Suite and converged controllers. This licensed feature
enables rich file protocols from SMB/CIFS and NFS to FTP, file data services from quota
management to file snapshots and File Lock for retention and WORM, and a RESTful Object
Access API for programmatic data access.

The HPE 3PAR File Persona expands the spectrum of workloads natively addressed by
HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage in up to 71 percent less data center space and with significant
power savings.4 It allows additional uses that enable workplace productivity and empower a
data-driven organization. Examples include:

Key foundational innovations within HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage such as built-in zero
detection, industry-leading Thin Provisioning, and Thin Deduplication, all contribute to data
compaction for both block volumes and file shares. File shares also benefit from other features
that HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage brings to block volumes. This includes support for HPE 3PAR
Adaptive Flash Cache that uses solid-state drive (SSD) capacity to extend DRAM cache,
providing greater performance and lower latency for read-intensive workloads. The addition
of HPE 3PAR Adaptive Optimization and Dynamic Optimization licenses extend granular
performance and capacity efficiency to both your file shares and block volumes.

Simplify your storage provisioning and administration

With the HPE 3PAR File Persona Software Suite, you can now have seamless support for a
broad range of client operating systems via the included rich set of SMB/CIFS, NFS, and FTP
protocols as well as the Object Access (REST) API. Industry-leading ease of use with the simple,
truly unified HPE 3PAR StoreServ Management Console (SSMC) makes HPE 3PAR StoreServ
Storage 2X easier for you to provision5 and 2X easier for you to manage.6 A powerful, scriptable
CLI gives you additional control and flexibility.

HPE 3PAR File Persona Software Suite allows straightforward integration of file shares into
a broad range of IT infrastructure solutions, including support for Microsoft Active Directory,
OpenLDAP, and local user authentication. Also, with support for OpenStack Manila for
self‑service file share management, transforming to a hybrid infrastructure is easier.

Deploy your file shares with confidence

Protecting your file data and your organization have never been simpler, thanks to the resiliency
and high availability features built into HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage and HPE 3PAR File Persona
Software Suite. In contrast to other unified devices, high availability for Virtual File Servers is
autonomic. Support for continuously available file shares provides non-disruptive HPE 3PAR
Operating System upgrades and transparent failover of clients in the event of a controller failure.
Comprehensive data protection is delivered to you by point-in-time file snapshots with user‑driven
file recovery, integration with third-party antivirus software, and high-speed file‑system–level
backup and restore that is supported via HPE Recovery Manager Central (RMC). Traditional
backup and restore applications are also supported, and disaster recovery replication is available
via separately licensed HPE 3PAR Remote Copy software.

HPE 3PAR Operating System
Software Suite
Required for all new HPE 3PAR StoreServ systems, this foundational software suite gives you everything you need to get up and running
quickly and efficiently. Powered by the HPE 3PAR Gen5 ASIC, HPE 3PAR Thin Technologies including HPE 3PAR Thin Provisioning,
HPE 3PAR Thin Persistence, HPE 3PAR Thin Conversion, and HPE 3PAR Thin Deduplication form the base of this software suite. Performance
acceleration is assured by HPE 3PAR Adaptive Flash Cache, which reduces application response times.
Network simplification and security are covered with iSCSI VLAN tagging. Simplified management is offered by the HPE 3PAR SSMC and
HPE 3PAR Host Explorer software, which is designed to get you off to a quick start with your new HPE 3PAR StoreServ system.
HPE 3PAR System Reporter and HPE 3PARInfo software are designed to track performance and capacity utilization trends for multiple
HPE 3PAR StoreServ systems. Other highlights of this suite include HPE 3PAR Full Copy software and autonomic rebalancing capabilities
that help you optimize the use of future capacity expansions and support for standard multipathing software for high availability in
clustered environments. A one year license for HPE 3PAR Online Import is included to enable migration from HPE EVA, EMC,* Hitachi Data
Systems (HDS),** or IBM*** systems.

HPE 3PAR Replication
Software Suite
This suite bundles HPE 3PAR Virtual Copy with HPE 3PAR Virtual Copy. HPE 3PAR Remote Copy software, both sold separately for all
HPE 3PAR StoreServ models. HPE 3PAR Virtual Copy software protects and shares data affordably with rapid recovery using reservationless,
non-duplicative, copy-on-write snapshots. HPE 3PAR Remote Copy software offers simple and cost-effective data protection for efficient
multitenant disaster recovery. Also included in this bundle is HPE 3PAR Peer Persistence, which ensures transparent automatic failover over
metropolitan distances using Remote Copy Synchronous mode.
For HPE 3PAR StoreServ 20000 and 8000 systems, this suite also includes HPE 3PAR Cluster Extension software, which enables automatic
failover across data centers using Remote Copy Asynchronous mode.

HPE 3PAR Data Optimization
Software Suite
This software bundle combines HPE 3PAR Dynamic Optimization, HPE 3PAR Adaptive Optimization, HPE 3PAR Priority Optimization, and
HPE 3PAR Peer Motion software together. HPE 3PAR Dynamic Optimization delivers the required service levels for the lowest possible cost
throughout the data lifecycle. HPE 3PAR Adaptive Optimization improves storage utilization by enabling cost-optimized storage tiering.
HPE 3PAR Priority Optimization assures service levels with quality of service (QoS) controls for mission-critical applications.
HPE 3PAR Peer Motion enables load balancing at will, wherein movement of data and workloads between arrays does not impact applications,
users, or services. These four software titles bundled in this suite are also sold separately for all HPE 3PAR StoreServ models. Depending on
purchase date, titles included in this suite may vary. Check the HPE 3PAR Software QuickSpecs for complete details.

HPE 3PAR Security This software suite bundles HPE 3PAR Virtual Domains and HPE 3PAR Virtual Lock software. With this suite, you can segregate access and
Software Suite deliver robust storage services for different applications and user groups with additional security attached to the retention of storage volumes.

HPE 3PAR Application Protect your Microsoft Hyper-V environment with HPE 3PAR Recovery Manager for Microsoft Hyper-V and the HPE 3PAR VSS Provider
Software Suite for Hyper-V software included in this software bundle.

HPE 3PAR Application This bundle gives you the essentials for use with Microsoft Exchange, including HPE 3PAR Recovery Manager for Exchange and the
Software Suite for Exchange HPE 3PAR VSS Provider software.

HPE Recovery Manager Central This suite bundles everything you need to protect your critical applications running on HPE 3PAR StoreServ Storage. RMC software allows
(RMC) Suite you to create, manage, and automate crash-consistent snapshots for any application and app-consistent snapshots for VMware vSphere®,
Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.**** In addition, RMC allows you to carry out flat backups to HPE StoreOnce Backup systems for converged
data protection.
