Quickstart - Analyse a SOMNOscreen™ measurement
1. Open a Measurement and activate the Edit Mode
= Open the file: Left click on the analysis programme (see Fig.1) > Select “Open*
iin the “File menu > double click on the requested measurement
Activate the Edit Mode: Menu “Mode” > left cick on "Edit Mode" ~
2. Set Markers ST

2.1Define the Begin and the End of the measurement
Set Start Marker: Right click on the raw data area at the begin > left click on “Define Start”
Set End Marker: Right click in the raw data area at the end > left click on “Define End”
All data before the Start Marker and all data behind the End Marker will be removed.
2.2 Set the Lights OFF and Lights ON Markers
The markers “Lights OFF* (patient in bed) and "Lights ON" (patient not in bed anymore) define the
relevant analysis data
= Set Lights OFF: Right click on the raw data area at the time the patient lies in bed (check
Video, light signal or marker) > left click on “Lights off”
= Set Lights ON: Right click on the raw data area at the time the patient gets off the bed (check
Video, light singal or marker) > left click on “Lights on”
Periods at night where the patient was upright should be defined as artefacts (scroll to artefact
begin > press predefined key “MT while the artefact is not completed).
2.3 Delete Markers
Select ,Edit Markers in the Tools’ menu > left click on ,Delete” right beside the requested marker.
3. Check up the red parts of the sleep stages -> only for ,PSG“ systems
The Sleep-Profile-Reliabilty-Analysis draws unclear parts (reliability < 40 %) in red colour. Its E===aE=R
recommend to check and edit these parts manually =
Activate .Unclear ST" (4) > use the predefined keys 1, 2, 3,4, R, W, M (see also table below) ===
to edit the sleep stages -> manually edited sleep stages will be coloured green Fig 2
4. Check up the Events (Spot Check)
Scroll to exclusive parts in the raw data area and check up automatic detected events.
= Add Events: Select the event in the raw data area by drag & draw > press the predefined
key (see table below) to add a specific event to the analysis
- Remove Events: Right click on the event box

Select ,Patient Info" in the "Tools" menu + lef click on tab sheet
“Diagnosis” (see Fig. 3) > Enter the Findings and the Diagnosis to the
correspondig text fields.
‘The buttons .Choose Finding" and ,Choose Diagnosis" offer lists of
selectable predefined findings and diagnosis.
6. View and Print Out of the Report
Select "Report." in the "Reports" menu > select a predefined template
or configure” the report > left click on "View" > Check the results > if
necessary go back to the analysis otherwise > Menu ,File" > Print"
* Select requested report items (Results and Graphics) by placing the
‘corresponding checkmarks
7. Cut the Video
Activate the Edit Mode of the video window (1)
~ Activate the data / video ~ synchronisation (2)
~ _ start the video playing (3) > press the Start-Marker!PLbutton at the begin,
and the End-Markerl 4 -button at the end of the part you want to keep >
repeat this procedure for all relevant video parts,
Pay attention that the file size of the relevant video should not take more
than 400 MB (4),
- WARNING: The Cut 888 button will delete all data
outside the selected parts! It is possible to create a backup if
necessary.
8. Archive the Measurement and delete the Backup
from your Hard Disk
Insert a blank CD-R media into the CD writer > Select “Open’ in
the “File” menu > left click on Archive..."
Enter a unique name for the CD (e. g. weeknum and year [WN-YY]
into the archive window (1) > add measurements via drag & drop
to the archive window (2) > Check up the requiered capacity (3),
if necessary remove some measurements from the window by
licking on remove" > ,Burn CD* (4) > ,Bum’.

adds @ CD @-symbal to the open window.
After the data would be stored on the CD, it is recommend to delete the measurements from.
your hard disk. Afterwards it is recommend to start the Defrag-Tool.
