Since Sep’01 with iPass India Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, currently as Senior Systems Manager– heading the Systems
Operation team and IT infrastructure of engineering organization, leading 5 members’ team and reporting to VP
Operation, based out of California HQ. iPass Bangalore division is software development unit.
iPass Operation uses latest technologies and technique to provide the best quality of service to end users. We use mix of
datacenter and cloud platform to complement each other drawback to provide best experience solution to our customers.

as-a-Service solution is easy, convenient, secure, and always on.
Current Job Deliverables:

 Leading the Operation Systems team to take care of day-to-day Operation related issues of 100+ critical
production servers, making sure server and applications are working as expected and ensuring uptime is 99.999%
using on-call method to support 24x7x365. In case of issue – take the appropriate action to fix the issue within
prescribed time limit. Monitor the various services and take proactive approach to avoid failures.
 Responsible for service delivery and customer satisfaction for our internal customers, which are located at
Bangalore, Singapore, Sydney, Hong-Kong, London, Germany, Amsterdam, Paris offices and various remote
users, by leveraging the Global IT Helpdesk Organization and by follow-the-Sun Model.
 Managing overall Operations for executing projects involving scoping, initiating, high level design &
architecture, resource mobilization, execution within cost & time parameters in Prod and DevQA environment.
 Implement redundancy and fault tolerant to each and every services to provide better uptime and at the same
time improve the performance of systems, route the traffic for faster response using technique like geo tag,
CDN, load-balancers, DNS routing, etc.
 Take lead for deployment process of new/upgrade software/services, monitor the traffic/load trend and plan
for future enhancement in production environment. Do the PoC in lab/staging environment before goes to live
 Plan, estimate and projection of Opex for running various datacenter which includes but not limited to
upgrading hardware’s (Server, Storage, networking gears), renewing various contracts, etc. Also, find a way to
reduce the Opex cost without compromising on the Quality or performance.
 Migrate Physical Server of various datacenter to either VMware Virtualization/Amazon cloud and save Rack
space, cooling, power and hence running cost.
 Manage Prod and DevQA Hadoop Cluster which consists of MapReduce, Yarn, Spark, Storm, Zookeeper, Flume,
Kafka, HDFS, HBASE, Hive, Pig, Cloudera Manager, HUE.
 Manages various cloud based application like Google Apps for Business for Mailing Solution and collaboration,
Amazon Web Service (AWS) for hosting various services for production and development env., 8x8, Inc. for cloud
based Virtual call center for our Customer Care, Ring Central for internal phone system for office in US for
internal and remote users, Salesforce for marketing and customer care team, MozyPro for cloud based backup
for individual users, WebEx/Zoom for training/remote support, etc.
 Responsible of, which consists of but not limited to Windows, Linux, Solaris OS; VMWare Virtualization, Cisco,
Juniper, Blue-coat, Tipping Point networking gears; PBX Management; Various services – like Asset Management,
Certificate Management, License compliance, IT Helpdesk, Disaster Recovery planning & execution, Remote
support, SOX audit, Security/Vulnerability audit and compliance, Finance related task like budgeting, expense
reports, PO and Invoice processing, STPI; Vendor Management; co-ordination with Service providers for Internet
and telephony; Power, cooling and Rack Space Management for datacenter.

 Handling escalations, Server or network issue, Backup (onsite and off-site).
 Interact with various vendor to negotiate terms and associated cost, purchase of IT hardware and software
 Make sure there are adequate power supply, power-backup UPS, Air-conditioning for Datacenter and
Workstation and take pro-active corrective action.

Significant Contributions:
 Successfully led team (without any conflict) and able to meet business and customer requirement on time and
completed the various projects on or before deadline. Received compliments several time by various
team/business head. Received “Exceptional Contribution Quarterly awards” twice.
 Migrated majority of the services into VMWare virtualization and retired all old hardware in Prod Datacenter
and IT Backend Infrastructure. There was huge Opex saving of 70%.
 Moved various services to Amazon Cloud and reduce the huge Capex/Opex cost for Production environment.
Also, saved further cost by fine tuning pricing plan of ec2 instance to get best discount.
 Re-architected Datacenter to have different access zone for better manageability and multiple layer of security
architecture to provide a robust framework to defend from attacks. And standardized architecture in all the
datacenter for ease of administration and deployment.
 Reconfigured network to have better security to defend new type of attacks and safe guard our network and
implemented best practices, added new technology of hardware like IPS (tipping point), ASA, SSL VPN.
 Migration of email infrastructure from exchange 2007 to cloud apps (Google Apps for Business) for the entire
company. I was part of 4 member team who were responsible to this migration. The entire migration was
smooth which is now helping employees to be connected anywhere anytime and save huge cost saving for
company.
 Implemented OnCampus roaming – which enables users to be connected all the time with Corporate wireless
network in the office premise in secure way from mobile/laptop.
 Successfully integrated GoRemote infrastructure with iPass infrastructure upon acquisition.
 Successfully supporting remote offices employees of Asia-Pac office/employees (Singapore, Sydney, Hong-Kong)
and EMEA office/employee (London, Paris, Germany, Amsterdam) remotely, which helped remote worker’s
issued resolved faster and they were more productive.

o Duo security two factor authentication.
o Certificate based authentication for IOS/Android VPN users.
o Juniper SSL VPN for Remote access to employees.
o Packeteer Packet Shapers to shape and compress mission critical applications traffic to improve the
WAN performance.
o Worked with the engineering team to port various app services and Oracle databases from Solaris to
Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Oracle Ent Linux) to save cost.
o Migration of DC and other servers from Windows Server 2003/2008 to Windows Server 2012 OS.
o Implemented iPass Device management suite – which allows only authorized laptops to connect
corporate network only after checking necessary remediation and meeting the requirement of
defined policies.
o Time to time Audit of monitoring system (Xymon) to cover all critical application (complete
workflow), systems, networking gears, load-balancers, port monitoring, etc.
o Puppet configuration tool to automate installation, configuration of Linux based systems
o Centralized authentication for all the servers (including R&D and Prod Linux based systems) for ease
of administration and meet the SOX compliance of new hire/termination process.
 Played a key role in supporting Hosted VoIP system 8x8 (Cloud based Call center solution), Salesforce for
customer care CRM - which used by our Customer care staff.
 Played key role in setting up the environment for smartcard based authentication for Wi-Fi for development env
 Was involved in the designing the workstation, server room, test lab lay-out; Networking lay-out; electrical lay-
out, etc. with architecture along with senior member while setting up new facility to accommodate 200
employees. Successfully did the planning and documenting the each step, which enabled us to move entire
facility with 0% downtime and error free environment.
 Have setup multiple Wireless LAN for development and testing purpose to meet business requirement.
 Successfully done the designing of 2 R&D Datacenter for layout of rack placement, power, cooling, etc. to host
almost 250 Servers and 120 servers respectively
 Successfully setup Paris (France) office to accommodate 25 people, which includes the networking, telephone,
power, Air-conditioning, workstations, Video Conference equipment, etc.
 Put in the solution to standardize OS and application deployment across the company
 Part of CMM assessment team (ATM) while assessing company for CMM Level 3

 Successfully migrated the Bangalore development unit network to public IP address, changes the DNS, NIS
Server & client, reconfigured all the backbone switches for new network, and reconfigured the entire routing

 Reconfigured the Lab network in such a way that each testing group has its own broadcast domain i.e. VLAN and
so reduce the congestion between different testing group. There were more than 500+ network devices in the
