Good morning to the Principal, teachers and fellow students. I am here on this ‘Prize
Giving Day’ to present a speech on “How to be a successful student”. It takes a lot of effort on the
part of the student to be successful.

First and foremost, a student has to be very hardworking. As the saying goes, “No Pain,
No Gain”. A student has to work hard in all aspects of his or her life. Only then the student will
achieve the intended goals. If you want to score A’s, then you will have to put in 4 to 5 hours of
study daily at home apart from studying in school.

In addition, being disciplined is very important. To be hardworking, you need to be

disciplined, in terms of being punctual to school, being attentive in class, finishing up homework
and doing eraly preparation for tests and examinations. To be able to do all tehse, having positive
attitudes and values play important roles. The never give-up attitude should be instilled in you.
Only then success will come your way.
Besides, time management is important. A student has to study, does school work,
homework, faces examinations and also needs to cope with extra-curricular activities. It is also
equally important to spend leisure time with family and friends. So, the student has to manage his
time wisely. A personal timetable can be very useful.

Lastly, you should choose your friends wisely. Good, sensible friends will help you
succeed in studies.

Well, in short, to be a successful student, you need to work hard, be disciplined with
positive values and attitudes. Don’t forget! Time management is very important.

Thank you and good luck!
