Mr. Campbell
Religion 10
Saint Paul originally persecuted Christians. He was on his way to Damascus when his
whole life changed. While riding down the road, he suddenly fell off his horse and saw a vision
of Jesus in the sky saying “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” After seeing this, he became
blind. He went into the city and was healed by a Christian man. From this moment on, his life
was changed.
He, along with his partner, Barnabus travelled the world preaching and spreading the
good news of Jesus, which is a stark contrast to what he did earlier in his life. He took a total of
three mission trips spreading all over the Mediterranean and beyond, totaling over ten-thousand
He also inspired future church thinkers with the doctrines he wrote about Jesus and his
teachings. Many of them, including Thomas Aquinas, based much of their work on his doctrines.
This shows that he was not only an amazing evangelist, but he was also a very intelligent church
writer. Paul also wrote thirteen letters to various people and groups of people. His letters were
When in Spain spreading the Gospel, he was captured and taken back to Rome, where he
would eventually be tried and executed by beheading. This was considered a humane way to die
because it was thought to be quick and painless. It was in fact a better way to die than many
other early martyrs, who were often tortured and slowly died painful deaths at the hands of the
Romans.
His story is extremely inspiring because he went from a murderer and a persecutor of
Christians to arguably the greatest evangelist of all time. He should be an example to anyone
who is not living a holy life to try to make a change and life the life of a saint that they are
destined to. Also, anyone who wishes to spread the Good News or wishes to turn their life
around has an amazing saint to pray to in order to gain wisdom and courage to spread the
message.
