What is Aquaflexactiv?

Aquaflexactiv is a joint sheet with dual sealing effect, including with high Sodium bentonite coating….
quality sodium bentonite coating, which swells upon contact with moisture.
The thickness of the coating is 2-3 mm, which corresponds to the solidity of
20-30 cm of waterproofing concrete, based on the water permeability factor
-9 -11
of concrete (10 m/s) and bentonite (10 m/s).
It has been demonstrated that the bentonite coating maintains its
swellability even if water pressure changes. To prevent premature
swelling, the bentonite coating is supplied with a protective film, which
dissolves in concrete.

The bentonite coating of every coated Aquaflexactiv system component must be on the side exposed to moisture, water
or other liquid medium. In this way, active and passive protection is activated on the exposed side. In the case of tanks, this
is always the internal side. It is expedient to indicate this in time when designing and ordering materials.

The bentonite coating of the Aquaflexactiv system components swells upon contact with moisture, hence it must be
stored in a closed space.

What is Aquaflexactiv sealing system?

The Aquaflexactiv sealing system insulation consists of complete shuttering components, which are jointing and
waterproofing elements equipped with dual (active and passive) safety protection.

They are unique for a system of jointing, because their installation as waterproofing plane or spatial elements are exceedingly
simple and fast.
Owing to the simple fitting of the complete elements, it is virtually impossible to damage or incorrectly install the water sealing
joints.

Aquaflexactiv F/AS are complete

waterproofing shuttering unit

swelling coating. These components are
used to form and seal the construction
joints of base plates, walls and slabs in
contact with the soil. Components higher
than 30 cm are not self-supporting,
hence their support must be provided on
site, prior to concreting.

Elements higher than 30 cm are key profiled that meets the geometric
requirements of the “intended” (toothed) finish according to the European Standard
EN 1992-1-1.

The F/AS wall element is similar to the

element used in slabs. The components
can be pushed into one another; they are
cut to size on site. The component can be
placed and fastened between the
external and the internal reinforcement.

The swelling coating is on the side

exposed to the liquid medium.

F/AS-S plane changing element

When ordering F/AS-S plane changing elements, the height

of the junction (b), its distance from the edge of the plate (a)
and its direction (to the right or to the left; the component in
the picture points to the left) must be specified. The plane
changing element guarantees reliable waterproofing and
simple fitting when the joint is changed from horizontal to
vertical.

The active bentonite coated plate

marked ACF is an easy and quick to fit
waterproofing construction joint forming
element between the base slab and the
wall in the Aquaflexactiv system.
The Aquaflexactiv ACF plates can be
fitted on the upper reinforcement in a
stable and highly secure manner with
just a few movements, using the
integrated feets. The overlapping of the
elements is done using clips. At corners
or edges the ACF plate can simply be
bent to the desired angle. The time taken by fitting and the possibility of misforming
joints can be minimised.

Principle of operation

The natural sodium bentonite coated joint sheet developed

for the rapid and efficient closure of Aquaflexactiv ACF and
ACR seals through its closing and sealing effect due to high
swellability. Cracks and cavities are packed by self-injection
of active bentonite.

FBK+ full coated edge form element

The Aquaflexactiv FBK+ element is

based on the principle of double sealing
insulation safety:
in addition to passive water sealing
according to the labyrinth principle by the
metal sheet, the edge form element has
active sodium bentonite coating along its
full length.

The use of the Aquaflexactiv FBK and

FBK+ edge form elements is particularly
expedient in the case of high plasticity
self-compacting concrete (scc) and is
indispensible because of the greater
shrinkage.

 Aquaflexactiv MSA cracking profile

MSA cracking profile

The MSA cracking profile is an intended

structure construction component, which
regulates and determines the place and
tracing of the structural cracks in reinforced
concrete structures, primarily walls. In this
way, cracks occur in a regulated manner.
The profile interrupts the reinforced
concrete structures at the intended points
between the two-layer iron fittings and
waterproofs it by surface ribs and
bentonite stripes placed on both sides.
The 1.5 m long elements can be pushed
into one another and can be cut to the desired length. The regulated crack remains
within the band between the triangular and trapezoid profiles nailed to the casing on
the external and internal sides of reinforced concrete walls.

Principle of operation
When professionally installed (placing the corner fillet in the line of the MSA profile),
the MSA cracking profile appropriately weakens the cross section of the concrete
structure, while the active bentonite insulation ensures the waterproofing of the crack.

If MSA cracking profile is not installed, the waterproofing concrete may crack in
an uncontrolled manner; the subsequent insulation of the cracks so appearing may
be very expensive.

Aquaflexactiv – distance tube (AF) and waterstopper (AK)

Aquaflexactiv AF is a distance tube with an additional outer bentonite coating. The

system combines the labyrinth principle (watertight cones) with the additional high
swelling bentonite coating, which is protected by a dissolving film against premature
swelling. For inner sealing a conical swelling plug is been used with 2 pcs. additional
closing plugs. According to tests done by ÉMI, the Aquaflexactiv AF system is
adequate up to water pressure of 5 bars.

Aquaflexactiv AK is a waterstopper with additional bentonite swelling coat on its surface.

The anchor rods are connected from both sides. The element is discontinued inside, no
liquid can penetrate through. The waterproofing of the Aquaflexactiv AK elements
remains perfect even in the case of extremely high ground water pressure and aggressive
media.
