CCisis management, prevention and contict management have been deemed as a burning topic now-a-days, both
for states as well ns regional and international organizations. There are however no single perception what this
constitutes and how this should be implemented into a conflicverisis scenario. Traditionally there has been a
skeptical view of prevention and management and the resolution of conflicts was believed to rely on the power
of the states involved. Relatively this perception has changed and today conflict prevention has become a
concept that has been adopted ky states as well as intsrnational organizations, such as the UN. This class will
closely examine the different concepts of handling conflicts both over time and in different thematic approaches,
The aim is to give the students a toolbox to critically examine different conflicts/erises and the possible
application of the different approscties to handling ‘crises. ‘The course aims at increasing the students
lunderstanding about the different concepts of crisis management, conflict management, conflict resolution and
prevention.
