Request for Assistance

Your Excellency,

I'm writing you in behalf of Mountain Rescue Service Station Mostar to kindly ask some of your time and
introduce our service to you including our vision with sincere hope you would be able to help us reach our noble goal.
Our Station, located in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, was established in 1965. Since then our mission
and main activity is to voluntarily help people in accidents in the mountains or areas where access is difficult.
Mountain Rescue Service Station Mostar is a non – profit, 24 hour professional emergency service, provided
by completely unpaid and voluntary teams specialized for rescue in mountains, rocks and speleological objects in
Bosnia and Herzegovina. MRS’s scope of activities also includes preventive measures and education of its members
and other mountain visitors. We are members of IKAR-CISA (The International Commission for Alpine Rescue) and we
work closely with other services involved in rescuing people and material goods such as Emergency Services, Armed
Forces, police, firefighters and others.
Service has fifty years of experience from over three hundred successfully executed rescue operations. It
consists of 33 members, mostly young people (climbers, mountaineers, skiers, doctors, teachers, engineers, lawyers
and technicians various professional occupations) who attend to provide first aid and to use all rescue techniques,
including the rescue with the helicopters. The average age of our members is 30-year-old.
MRS Station Mostar also works in the urban and other areas such as: high buildings, tunnels and pipes,
traffic accidents and water, and accidents in a variety of extreme sports. Service provides the safety of skiers at
resort Rujiste (mountain Prenj) and members of the Service also provide the safety of the mountain biking races,
competitions in sport climbing, extreme sport events etc.
During several natural disasters in last few years that have hit our country we have given a great
contribution in dealing with catastrophic events. Our teams have participated in actions involved in saving lives
and material goods and some pictures from our gallery, taken on the spot, you will find attached to this letter. We
are also very successful in strategic planning and building up an organization and some of our project are
sponsored by the government of the United States of America and EUFOR Althea.
To improve our work and ensure better help to those in need our wish is to attend and successfully finish
ITLS (International Trauma Life Support) course. ITLS courses give the student the knowledge and hands-on skills to
take better care of trauma patients. ITLS stresses rapid assessment, appropriate intervention and identification of
immediate life threats. The ITLS framework for rapid, appropriate and effective trauma care is a global standard that
works in any situation.
ITLS courses combine classroom learning, hands-on skills stations, and assessment stations that put
learning to work in simulated trauma scenarios. Each ITLS course includes a, evidence-based course manual with in-
depth content written and edited by trauma care experts based on current research. ITLS courses are designed, managed
and delivered by course directors, coordinators and instructors experienced in EMS, pre-hospital care and the ITLS
approach.
The ITLS basic course would be held in Mostar by Emergency Service from Sarajevo, the only holder of a
full ITLS licence in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Price of the ITLS course to be held for all our members is 13,200.00 KM
(thirteen thousand and two hundred convertible marks) or 6,769.00 E (six thousand seven hundred and sixty nine
euros).
Full budget is below:

International Trauma Life Support will empower us with the knowledge and skill to provide optimal care in
the prehospital setting. This will improve our everyday field work and make our help better for all those in need.
At the end of this letter we will allow ourselves to kindly ask Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St.
John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta to fund our education. Our organization is well-known due to our
activity, and if you decide to fund us, we will thank you in public and Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St.
John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta will be presented in media as our sponsor.
