Using multi criteria method for a comparative analysis of automotive products regarding the influence of eco-friendly method

Paper abstract

This article uses a multicriterial quantitative and qualitative analysis regarding with the influence of eco-friendly
methods, to reduce emissions over the life cycle of automotive products.The multicriterial method is applicable in
the case that preferential criteria are independent of each other and while the uncertainty has not been
incorporated into the formally model. The linear model shows how the values of several criteria related to the
options can be combined in an overall value. The main purpose of this research is to apply a multicriterial
methodology to both improve the accuracy of existing approaches in identifying the influence of eco-friendly
methods to reduce emissions over product life cycle and to assist manufacturing decision makers. The research
questions were the next:
Which one of two automotive products (“Bus” and “Truck”), has the best environmental performance?
Which one of two automotive products (“Bus” and “Truck”), has the best overall environmental performance.
This research is a very detailed comparative analysis of a “Crosstown bus" and a "Tractor truck", both made the
Industrial Park Romania Brasov, Romania, using a multicriterial analysis. In this article, I am presenting the
answer of the first research question and only the results for the second one. The results can provide a decision
support base for more environmentally sustainable and eco-friendly efficient production process of automotive
products. The environmental performance of the product has been alculated using the next formula: EPP = f
