Instructional Considerations:
Will be given as needed. Some students will need assistance in reading the comprehension and
that will be done using peer tutoring or teacher assistance.
PROCEDURE:
Anticipatory Set: I will start the lesson by having the students’ attention face forward. I
will use the Mirror and Word method. I will say read, re-read, think, and answer. I will
demonstrate it by using actions. Eyes and finger for reading, pointing to my head for thinking
and then my lips for answering.
Model: (How will you demonstrate?) I will read the short comprehension out loud. Then
the whole class will read together. We will then go through the questions and possible answers.
With each question I will ask them to read, reread, think and then answer.
Check for understanding: (How will you check their understanding?) I will go through
one of the comprehension questions. I will choose a student to give the answer using the RRTA
method. When the student gives the answer he or she will have to show the class where in the
text give the clue or answer itself.
Guided Practice: (What activities will they do with your guidance?) Students will
complete the remainder questions together as a class. They will have to identify where the
answer is found and or why it is correct.
Closure: the class will come back central. I will go over methods we should use when
trying to answer comprehension questions. Students will mirror and word the RRTA method
once more and then a member from each group will tell the class what that particular group and
what they learnt.
Reflection: How did the lesson go? What worked? What would you do different next time?
