AGAR CANADA CORPORATION has established offices in Calgary and is in the process of building a
service base in Bonnyville Alberta, expected to be fully operational by the end of January. Along with being
an operational center of excellence, Agar’s Canadian office also offers local technical service.
Agar has been an industry-leader in offering cutting-edge instrumentation for almost 30 years. Its solutions
include oil/water monitors (OW 200 and OW 300 series), used in such applications as crude oil and
products pipeline monitoring; interface concentration detection systems (ID 200 Series), used for interface
measurement and control in liquid/liquid and vapor/liquid separation processes including emulsions and
foam; and Multiphase Meters (MPFM 50 Series, MPFM 200 Series, MPFM 300 Series, and MPFM 400
Series), used in well test applications.

Agar Soon to Offer its New 2-Wire 24VDC Loop Powered ID-200

Because of increased industry demand, Agar will will not be required for many applications, reducing

Agar Training Forum - Next Session Starts February 4th
This past October marked the successful completion of Agar’s training series, held in February, June, and
October of each year. With participants from all over the world, training focused on each of Agar’s core product
offerings and related industry applications including hands-on training and troubleshooting. Taking place in
Agar’s Houston manufacturing facility, the training spans a period of four weeks and allows participants to
choose which level and product(s) is appropriate based upon their skill-set and knowledge base. Training is
open to all Agar representatives and customers*.
The training schedule and agenda was developed and enhanced based upon feedback from past training
sessions and future improvements/enhancements will be made in an effort to meet the needs of participants
and to address current field conditions. The first session of 2009 is slated to take place February 4th to
February 27th with other sessions scheduled in June and October. Please see below for more schedule
details.
For international participants, Agar offers a standard package of amenities that can be utilized at the discretion

Agar Canada Corporation Impacts the Local Community
Upon opening its doors in 2008, Agar Canada Corporation (ACC), a subsidiary of Agar Corporation Ltd,
has made a commitment to its surrounding community through its support of the Calgary Inter-Faith Food
Bank. Established in 1982, the Food Bank provides assistance to Calgary families in need through a variety
of programs including Hampers for the Homeless and the Emergency Food Hamper Program, among
others.
ACC’s management team (shown below) was present for the donation grant. During the ceremony, Mr.
Shani stated: “ACC is dedicated to providing its customers with superior measurement and process control
solutions that streamline operations, increase efficiencies, and optimize resources. In that sense, the recent
donation to the Food Bank for the purchase of an automated sorting machine is aligned with ACC’s core
competency and its philosophy”.
Mr. Mahoney added: “By applying strategic thinking and utilizing the latest automation tools, each operation,
be it the world’s largest oil company, or a local charitable food bank, can realize a higher level of operational
efficiency. Agar Canada’s capabilities and support of its
clients’ needs will be at the service of the community we
live in.”
Key Appointments
Al Mahoney was recently hired as Agar’s global
Business Manager, based in Houston, Texas. Hailing
from the Calgary area, Al most recently worked with
Schlumberger as its Heavy Oil Business Manager for
