 Pastoral Experience 1989-2002: I have always loved to teach, but didn’t fully
realize it until I taught in a private school while still leading a church as Pastor.
My realization was so strong that I resigned and went back to school to become a
public school teacher. My pastoral experience has afforded me a tremendous
opportunity to learn how to manage time, be on call 24 hours a day, manage a
physical plant, understand and empathize with people young and old, lead folks
who don’t have to follow for a paycheck, create vision with a diverse group, raise
funds, understand the books, deal with the government, write letters, write
sermons and lessons, talk to parents, counsel those in trouble, lead in a board
room, administer a Sunday school, missions group, youth, and children’s
departments, and care for the elderly and sick. I can’t begin to list every
experience gained that has served to develop me as a person and a leader, but I
believe the pastoral experience will cause me to be a better principal for the
richness therein.

the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma City, I became an
