For hydro insulation:
Mape plan M15
MAPEPLAN® production is the new line of synthetic coverings for waterproofing, which thanks to an exclusive
"multi-extrusion coating" technology is able to provide PVC-P and TPO/FPO surfaces guaranteed to last long
and have great performances.
One of the most important characteristics of the MAPEPLAN® surfaces is their great workability and
weldability. The thermal welding consists of an actual fusion and union of the molecular chains and provides
resistance to the water head and mechanical stress. With MAPEPLAN®waterproofing systems it's possible to
realize totally hermetic "continuous" waterproofing for roofing and civil engineering works.
MAPEPLAN® is also available in the "Smart White" version, in which the top layer is produced in white, which
guarantees a great solar reflectance.
This covering reduces the roof's surface temperature by 50% and, consequently, also the internal
temperature of the building, keeping them constant.

Description of this material:

High mechanical resistance
Good workability and ease of digestion
Flexibility at low temperatures
UV Resistance
Resistance to aging
Breathability
Anti-microbial factors and roots
Weight:1.95 kg/ m²

Hydro insulation:
G1= 1.95 kg/m2 x 9.81 m/s2 x1.6 m = 0.306kN/m
For thermal insulation:

AUSTROTHERM's heat-insulating materials from EPS (expanded polystyrene)have shown in the past more than
40 years as the most suitable materials for installation of the ceiling, walls, roofs and floors. If you use
insulation Austrotherm EPS you will save the environment through reduction of the presence of pollutants
such as CO2, NOx, SO2).
All kinds of materials Austrotherm EPS ® consist of air (percentage of less than 98%!). They do not irritate
human the skin on contact, and are subject to permanent control and quality Austrotherm's laboratories and
institutes for Testing and Materials.
For insulation between rafters this company gives you one more solution Austrotherm KLEMMFIX, but it is
expensive so I think that Austrotherm EPS 30 is better solution.
Austroterm properties:

Thermal insulation:
G2 = 2.1 kg/m2 x 9.81 m/s2 x1.6 m = 0.33 kN/m

Sandwich panel
Dead Load(Sandwich Panel):
G3= 10.5kg/m2 x 9.81 m/s2 x1.6 m = 0.264 kN/m
Assumed profile IPE200 (22.4kg/m)
G4= 22.4kg/m x 9.81 m/s2 x1 m = 0.352 kN/m

Snow load:

S0= 1.25 + (H-500)/400

S0= 1.25 + (800-500)/400
S0= 1.5 + 0.75.
S0= 2 kN/m2

S1= 2 kN/m2* 1.6m=3.2 kN/m

Wind load:
p= 1.225 – H/8000 = 1.225 – 800/8000 = 1.125 kg/m3
W0= 0.5 * p * (Vm,50,10 * k1 * k2)2 * 10-3 * Sz2 * kz2 * Gz = 0.595 kN/m2
C2= 0.3 + (a - 25) * 0.02
C2= 0.3 + (15 – 25) * 0.02
C2= 0.1 W2= W0 x C2
W2= 0.595 kN/m2 x 0.1
W2= 0.06 kN/m2
W2= 0.1 kN/m2 * 1.6 m
W2= 0.16 kN/m

Sandwich Panel includes thermal and hydro insulation, but because of Industy hall loaction additional
were needed so we introduced their values into load calculation.

Load Name Load Value

Hydro Insulation 0.306 kN/m
Thermal Insulation 0.330 kN/m
Sandwich Panel 0.264 kN/m
Snow Load 3.200 kN/m
Wind Load 0.160 kN/m
I profile 0.352 kN/m
TOTAL 4.612 kN/m
The First Assumed Profile:
Name Ix (cm4) Wx (cm3) ix (cm) Iy (cm4) Wy (cm3) iy (cm) A (cm2)
I 200 2140 214 8,00 117 26,0 1,87 33,4

For this profile  TOTAL LOAD = 4.67 kN/m

q^ * l 2 4, 7kN / m*(7m) 2
Mx = = = 28, 788kNm = 2878,8kNcm

M max 2878,8kNcm kN kN

Because this industrial hall is large it's important to choose economic profile for secondary structural
system to save project budget so next profile was chosen in order to see is there better solution

Adopted Profile:
Name Ix (cm4) Wx (cm3) ix (cm) Iy (cm4) Wy (cm3) iy (cm) A (cm2)
IPE 200 1940 194 8,26 142 28,5 2,24 28,5

For this profile  TOTAL LOAD = 4.67 kN/m

q^ * l 2 4, 612kN / m*(7m) 2
Mx = = = 28, 2485kNm = 2824,9kNcm
8 8

M max 2824,9kNcm kN kN
¶ = = = 14,56 2 £ ¶ al = 16
wx 194m 3
cm cm2

This profile also satisfied allowable stress and if analysed closer this result will happen
There are 16 rows of this profile on the roof.
Each row is 70 meters long which mean that total length of this profile is 1120meters.

If I200 profile was chosen, total mass of it on the roof would be

M1=26.2kg/m * 1120 m = 29344 kg
By using IPE 200 profile, total mass would be:
M2=22.4kg/m* 1120m = 25088 kg
* It means 4256 kg less than previous, which will save a lot of budget money and also it
would positively affect on design of other elements below this secondary structural
system which means smaller profiles and less amount of money will be needed.
Then reactions were found and used in calculation of roof truss.

Axial Force in each truss member is shown in the table below

On the next page load input on the truss is shown.

Lin Pro was used to find values of axial force in each truss member.
