1.0 GENERAL

The underpass excavation and construction will be execute and prepare for the installation sheet pile. The sheet pile will
be installed to support the earth while the excavation for underpass in progress. This method statement will cover the
process of the work, health and safety consideration when carrying out the work and quality control needed to prevent
the recurrence and making good.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORKS

The scope of work will be:

a) Underpass excavation in claystone using excavator, which is 150.0 meters length include 87.718 meters length for
closed underpass, 42.282 meters length for open underpass and 20.0 meters length for U shaped. For width is 9.0
meters and 7.0 meters height.
b) Construction of Reinforced concrete and Head walls, including the slope stabilization works which consist of
Retaining Wall construction at existing embankment and concrete ditch.
c) Installation of necessary ground support to the tunnel excavation, which consists of reinforced steel bars, shotcrete
and concrete floor lining.
d) Associated ventilation and lighting work.

6.0 HANDLING AND STORAGE

All material should be handle with care and the workers are equipped with personal protective equipment (PPE).
The pre-packed material shall be stored on a dry area, off the ground to prevent contact with ground and dampness,
Any torn of pre-packed bag and/or hardened/expired of material upon arrival at the site shall be rejected and
immediately remove from site.
Consignments of material should be arranged in a way that it is used in the order of delivery (First In First Out – FIFO).

7.0 SUBMISSION AND APPROVAL

The relevant samples, certificates and records pertaining to the material used if any shall be submit to Resident Engineer
for approval.

8.0 WORK METHODOLOGY

8.1 INTRODUCTION

The underpass work is schedule to be on 19th December 2016 and have to carry out at day and monitoring with supervisor.
The underpass construction cover from CH 250 to CH 400 at Ramp 8, include 87.718m is vehicular box culvert, 42.282m
is open box culvert and 20.0m is U shaped Retaining Wall. Underpass are crossing over Ramp 2 and joint with Federal
Highway. Layout plan for underpass construction, Ramp 8 as shown in the Fig 8.1.0.

8.2 SITE PREPARATION

Prior to construction, contractors will prepare work sites to accept workers, equipment and materials. This will include
clearing, grubbing, and grading, followed by mobilization of initial equipment and materials.

Starting the excavation and construction works, the necessary plants, equipment, materials and supplies needed to start
the works will be at the site. The necessary temporary facilities will be on site, as close to the work area as possible.

8.3 SURVEY AND SETTING OUT

The Underpass location, centreline and alignment, gradient, and elevation will be establish by survey, starting from the base
slab, in accordance with the design as indicated in the layout plan and typical cross sections of the reference drawings.

8.4 PROCEDURE FOR CONSTRUCTION

1) The affected area shall be dry, clean and free from all grease. Crack area will be hack using mechanical hackers.
2) All loose material along the crack should be remove with suitable hand tools such as wire brush.
3) Drill holes 10 x 50mm c/c 150mm distant at 30-degree angle on left and right along the entire crack line. Install the
mechanical packer into the holes and tighten securely.
4) Sealing up surface of crack by applying a coat of epoxy putty, Sikadur 31. The sealing compound shall be dry before
carried out the epoxy injection.
5) Mix the epoxy injection accordance to manufacturer’s specification. Inject into mechanical packers from one direction
toward another.
6) Ensure all air released from the gap and seal all packers tightly upon completion for injection process.
7) Allow 24 hours for curing before dismantling.
8) Remove all packers and clean all debris at sites. Touch up uneven surface and make good to original surface.

9.0 HANDOVER, PROTECTION & PRESERVATION OF WORK-IN-PROGRESS (WIP)

The Contractor shall be responsible to manage and take measures to protect and preserve their work in progress as well
as work handover as per requirements.

10.0 INSPECTION AND TEST PLAN

The Client Representative shall be inform via RIN before proceeding with the work. The work shall not proceed without
approval from Client Representative. Contractor shall first inspect the work completed by worker to its satisfactory prior
request joint inspection from Client Representative.

Checklists shall be implemented during inspection activities as per Appendix A – Check list.

11.0 HEALTH, SAFETY, SECURITY AND ENVIRONMENT

All Risk assessment shall be carried out to identify hazards associated with the excavation and construction process,
assess such hazards and take reasonably practicable steps to eliminate or control the risks arising from those hazards.
Basic personal protective equipment (PPE) be provided to the workers involved.
Proper housekeeping shall be maintained throughout the whole operation.
