TITLE: CHILD ABUSE

Nowadays, we always hear about child abuse and there are many children being abuse
every year. Do you know ‘what is child abuse?’ Child abuse is intentional acts that result in
emotional and physical that harming the children. There are many different forms of abuse.
The World Health Organization classified to four types of child abuse, that are emotional,
physical, sexual and neglect.

First is emotional abuse. Emotional abuse occurs when a child is injured in emotion
that causes disturbance that can be seen in the mental or emotional function of the child such
as mental disorders or behaviour, anxiety, depression, persistence and slow development. It
also occurs when the yelling and anger go too far or when a parent constantly threatens or
dismissed a child until a child’s feelings are broken.

A child is considered to be suffering from physical abuse if there are signs of injury
that can be seen in the body of the child and this injury is not caused by an accident. There
are evidence such as cuts, scratches, scars, fractures or bone injuries, sprain, bleeding, skin
lesions, fires, burns, loss of sanity and others. Such injury is considered abuse regardless of
whether the caretaker intended to hurt the children.

Sexual abuse happens when a child is abused and is sexually abused. If he

participates, whether as a participants or observer, in any sexually explicit activity for any
sexual purpose or exploitation by any person to satisfy the person’s or other’s sexual desires.
This sexual abuse included activities by parents or caretaker such as rape and exploitation
through prostitution or the production of pornographic materials.

Neglect continuous and serious failure to provide basic physical, emotional, and
developmental needs in terms of health, education, emotional development, nutrition, shelter
and safe living for children. Abandonment may expose children to all forms of danger,
including life threatening them.

There are various consequences that will occur due to abuse cases. These effects are
divided into two: the effect of the abuser and the victim of abuse. If seen from the effects on
the abuser, the abuser may act more aggressively from time to time. This is because his
actions in previous abusive cases did not result in adverse effects on him. So, it is not
impossible for the abuser to be much more aggressive and no longer know its prey. The
detainee also feels that his emotions may only be released by violence against other
individuals, thereby causing him to be more likely to commit repeated torture. Additionally,
this also causes more abusive torturers to commit more aggressive cases of abuse and engage
more victims, and spread into society.

There more negative effects will be felt by the victims of the abuse. Implications of
child abuse are generally clearly seen through injuries to their physical members. Wounds in
the head, body and face will have an adverse effect especially on their future when they grow
up. This will indirectly invite physical disability whether serious or not. There are even some
cases of torture that kill the victim himself. For example, the son of MIC S Karrigalan
chairman, 42, has been killed by a neighbour's abusive attack on 3 March. In addition, brain
retardation can also occur as a result of shock in the head by hard objects.

The conclusion is that the root c ause of these child abuse cases starts from home.
Parents should defend, give shelter and preserve the rights of children to ensure their perfect
life. Parents should strive to pour out love and say attention to children as well as to cultivate
their love. Additionally, all parties such as parents, teachers, government and society should
also be responsible for solving this problem. Each party has to work hard to solve this
problem instead of pointing the finger at the other side by looking at resolution down to the
grassroots so that these bad symptoms can be eradicated and prevented from continuing to
shake every level of society in this country.
