ACTIVITIES: I. PRE-LESSON
1. Give pupils a text on a shopping trip. Ask them conver or fold so that they
can see only the 3 friends and elicit suggestions as to what could the girls
possibly shop for.
II. LESSON
2. Ask pupils to uncover and read the text and to check if their prediction
was correct and come up with the actual shopping list
3.Check and confirm with the whole class
4. Tell pupils that they will concentrate on how language is used in the text
5.Focus on Simple Past Tense and explain if possible in L1
6 Identify the verbs I the past tense and get the class to identify the others
and then in pairs check if they have identify all the verbs
7.Ask students to complete the passage by writing verbs in the past tense
III. POST-LESSON:
8. Briefly ask pupils to tell the skill and language focus of the lesson
9. Ask pupils if they agree with the shopping done by the 3 friends

1. Pupils recall the shopping list of Devika and her friends.
2. Focus pupils’ attention to the past verbs and reference pronouns

3. Tell pupils that Ron has inherited RM2000 and pupils are to prepare a
shopping list for him.
4.Pupils now create a text for the shopping list (assist pupils in the use of
connectors and reference pronouns)
5. 4.Pupils swap their list and will calculate how much will be spent and left
from the RM2000
6. Common errors are written on the board and discussed

III. POST-LESSON:
7. Pupils read the text of others and underline 1 thing that he/she has done
well and share with the class.
