Never Seldom Rarely Occasionally Sometimes Often Generally Usually Habitually Always BATTLE of GRAMMAR

BATTLE of GRAMMAR
This game is to encourage students to make sentences. The only way of winning the game is by shooting (which is

actually making sentences) at others. Provided with How-To-Play, this can be done by two players and even the

whole classroom students altogether. I did it with all my students and they were enthusiastic.

 How to Play
 at least 2 players (so, copy the first page for each player).
 each player must not show his/her sheet to another, yes, it must be kept secret.
 Decide how many “soldiers” are involved in the battle. For example:

TYPE NUMBER SCORES

Footman 25 men 1 point

Jeep 2 vehicles 2 points

Tank 2 vehicles 5 points

Helicopter 2 vehicles 10 points

Airplane 1 vehicle 10 points

Battle ship 3 vehicles 12 points

Submarine 2 vehicles 13 points

Headquarter 1 building 25 points

1. Each player draw the “soldiers” (or tank, or anything you like) in random places in the table

2. One cell may contain more than one “soldier”

3. Player A starts by “shooting” at player’s B sheet, still without looking at the B sheet, instead Player A mention

which cell he/she aimed. For example: “I” refers to column 1, and “always” refers to row 1. Each player has to

say correct grammar, like “I always drink milk” which refers to column 1 and row 1 (so it will hit row 1 and

column 1).

4. If there is any “soldier” in the cell mentioned by player A, then player B has to mention how many/what kind of

“soldiers” were hit. If there isn’t any, player B simply say “you missed.”

5. In turn, it’s time for player B to shoot player A. (do step 3 forward simultaneously)

6. The game is over when one side lost all his/her “headquarter”
