For one of the major events of 2017 of the College of Education and Liberal Arts, they held a Sportsfest
event for all the students that are under the said College under the preparation and guidance of the
Sports Director of each course that participated in the event. It included AUYEA or the Education majors,
CREACOMM or the Communication majors, SOPHIA or the Philosophy majors and last but not the least
was AdU-PULITIKA or the Political Science majors. The Sports event was held for two days starting from
September 6-7. The games during the sportsfest were Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton. And it includes
brainy-strategic games like Games of the General, Scrabble and Chess. Starting from the making of the
jerseys, to the inviting of players to join the sportsfest, to assembling the event and venue, AdU-
PULITIKA’s Sports Director Rafael Reyes had to make sure that AdU-PULITIKA will be able to join and
showcase the Pulitikans’ sporty side and not just what other people usually know about Polsci majors, is
that we only know much about politics and nothing else.

Adu-PULITIKA Players had to face off all of the different players from the other courses. Unfortunately,
in both the Men’s and Women’s volleyball tournament, they both loss to AUYEA. The same misfortune
happened to both AdU-PULITIKA’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball team. Even though, the 4 teams
really put up a fight and did their best to represent AdU-PULITIKA well. It was a proud moment for the
AdU-PULITIKA community even though we lost. But AdU-PULITIKA’s achievements does not stop there.
Luckily, AdU-PULITIKA was able to bag the trophy for the other remaining games.

The Badminton players of AdU-PULITIKA, both Men’s single, Women’s single and Mixed doubles
tournament won all of it. From the singles match of the Women’s tournament, Kathleen Joy B.
Barachina showcased her impressive Badminton skills and outscored every single opponent she had to
face against. She scored 25 while AUYEA scored 15, CREACOMM scored 20 and SOPHIA socred 10.

Badminton by beating every single one of his opponents. With also the winning score of 25, outscoring

Alberto D. Banaga and Russel Ann T. Rotugal ousted every other player from each score with their great
word-playing skills. Lastly, in the Chess tournament, Vence Francis P. Luz won the impressive Chess
tournament with the score of 25.

Because of the competitive spirits, the sportsmanship of each and every player, but most importantly,
the support and love given by the whole Adu-PULITIKA that wasn’t even stopped by the blazing heat of
those 2 day-sportsfest. The whole Pulitika Community was able to bag the over-all championship with a
very impressive over-all score of 265. AUYEA came in at second place by an over-all score of 165.
CREACOMM came in at third place with an over-all score of 160 and SOPHIA came in at fourth place
with the score of 140. This sportsfest was held to show Adamson University the camaraderie, unity and
sportsmanship amongst the College of Education and Liberal Arts. That despite being in different
courses, the College of Education and Liberal Arts can be one through sports.

The whole AdU-PULITIKA is very proud of the players that represented the organization very well!! Win
or lose, AdU-PULITIKA showed a big heart with different capabilities and skills. Congratulations once
again for another achievement, AdU-PULITIKA!
