Most editors have a bachelor’s degree in film or media
production. There’s no on the job training or special certification,
but a bachelor’s degree in film and media gives you plenty of
experience in editing to assimilate into the job. Push comes to
shove, you could learn the editing process yourself.

This career is a good match for me because: It has everything
I’ve wanted. It caters to the aspects of my personality that have
made me successful thus far-following directions, indulging in
personal creativity, paying attention to detail, and good story
comprehension. It would pay well enough to live comfortably in
LA-where I would likely be based-and still pursue other interests.
It also presents the opportunity to make connections in the film
industry that could turn into my dream career of writing and
directing.
