Scene 1: INT – CAR

(Narrator, Lewis)

Narrator: The year is 2030. The world is falling into chaos as

the threat of a nuclear war is looming closer and
closer. It’s all that is on everyone’s mind, its all
over the radio and the people of the world are
preparing for the worst. I’m sat in a taxi with Matt
and the driver is called Omar who seems alright. We
on our way to central London to go shopping. The
roads are packed with cars (car horns beeping and
people shouting)

Josh: Matt did you watch the football last night?

Matt: Yeah, they didn’t deserve to win that man they were
playing shit
Omar: There’s a lot of traffic ahead boys, I don’t know
what’s going on…
(You can hear the sounds of car horns and cars crashing, you can
also hear people screaming and children crying).
Josh: What’s going on?
(An air raid siren starts to sound and you can hear the panic and
chaos throughout the city)
Matt: We need to get out of here
Omar: What about the car? (Car horns)
Josh: We don’t need the car the car we need to get out of
here, are you coming Omar?
Omar: Yes let’s get out of here (you can still hear the
air raid siren
(They all get out the car and run to cover behind a building)
Matt: What are we going to do now (he’s out of breath)
Josh: What is happening? Where are we going to go we need
to get undercover!
Matt: Lets go over hear (they run around a corner away
from the pavement)
Omar: What’s that over there it looks like a door (Omar
turns on the light on his phone and shines it
towards there door)
Josh: Let’s see if it’s unlocked, it’s worth the try
(They walk toward the door, at this point you can still hear the aid
raid siren but it’s not as loud and music will ne
playing)
(Matt kicks the door and it opens, you hear the sound of the door
being kicked open and the music is dramatic and fast
in tempo)
Matt: Come on it’s our only hope (the all quickly dash in and Omar
slams the door shut, you heard the sound of the door
slamming)
(There is a silence that last 5 seconds)

Scene 2 INT – Entering the building

Omar: now where are we going to go!

(The air raid siren is now muffled but it can still be heard)
Josh: Matt get your torch out again, its pitch black in
here…
(Matt pulls out his phone and you hear the torch on his phone make a
sound)
Matt: Look. There’s a stairway, it might be a basement.
Let’s go down there, whatever’s coming we will be
safer underground…
(You can hear the sound of their footsteps as they begin to walk
down the stairs, as they go further down the
footsteps echo more and you can hear water dripping
from a pipe)

Josh: Look there’s another door, I wonder where it goes…

(Omar opens the door and reveals a basement, you can hear dripping
water and an echo as they’re underground)
Omar: There’s only one way we can find out
(One by one they enter the basement, the air raid siren is now
quieter and the dramatic music fades out)

(As the narrator (me) starts to talk the air raid siren can still be
heard and the music is very quiet)

Narrator: As the world as we know it plunges into chaos and

destruction Matt, Omar and I are taking refuge in
the basement of a building, hoping that we can
survive whatever’s going on up there. We can hear
the screams of people, explosions, the crashing of
buildings and the air raid siren consuming the air
with its song.
(You can hear all of the sounds that are described as the narrator
is talking)

We sit here unaware of what’s happening to the

concrete jungle above us. For all we know this could
be the end of the world as we know it…
(The air raid siren slowly is drowned out by dramatic/sad music as
the narrator talks)

Narrator: Time passes slowly when your cut off from the world,
hours turn into days and days turn into weeks. We
 don’t have any idea how long we’ve been hiding under
here but we’ve reached the decision that it’s time
for us to go up to the surface…
(the music dies down; the siren can no longer be heard and there is
an earie silence).

Scene 3: INT - Basement

Josh: Guys come one! If we don’t go up there now were
going to die down here, we need to find out what’s
happened…
Omar: I don’t know josh. There could be anything up there
Matt: I agree with Josh, if we don’t leave now we’re going
to die down here!
Josh: Let’s go, hurry!
(you can hear the door of the basement fly open and you can hear the
sounds of their footsteps running up the metal
stairs.

Scene 4 EXT – The outside world

(They reach the top of the stairs and push open the door, one by one
they walk out into the street)

Omar: Oh my God…
Matt: This can’t be real

Narrator: One by one we see what’s happened to the city that we

used to call home. Only a few buildings were still
standing, fires were raging throughout the city. As
we looked around we couldn’t help but notice that
there was nothing… no birds, no noise, no people.
Everything was gone… What had become of place that
has been our home for decades.

(They venture out into the city wasteland, you can hear their
footsteps ad breathing etc as there is no other
sound to be heard throughout the city)
Josh: Where do we go now? What are we going to do! There’s
nobody here, everyone’s dea-
Matt: Calm down! Stop panicking!

Omar: There must be a reasonable explanation for this

Josh: Are you joking! There is nothing reasonable about
this, the city is destroyed…. Who knows what’s
happened to the rest of the world.
Omar: All I know is I need to get the hell out of here
(You can hear Omar’s footsteps as he starts to run)
Matt: Stop! Come back!
(You hear a crash of metal and a thud, implying that Omar has fallen
over)
Omar: Fuck! I’m bleeding
(You can heard Josh’s and Matts footsteps as they run over to Omar,
you can hear his heavy breathing)
Josh: We need to clean it to see how deep it is
(You can hear Omar’s screams of pain and heavy breathing)
Matt: Where can we find water though?
Josh: I don’t know but we need to clean his cut…
Omar: Check a car or something!
(Omar’s screams can still be heard)
Matt: Look over there Matt! Let’s check that car
(You can hear their footsteps as they run over to the car)
Josh: Smash the window!
(You can hear the sound of smashing glass)
Matt: Look there’s a bottle of water!
Omar: Hurry!!!
(You again can hear heavy breathing and the sound of footsteps
running as the make their way back over to Omar who is still
screaming in pain)
Josh: This is gonna hurt but we need to clean it
Omar: Just get it over and done with
Josh: Right, here we go
(You can hear the sound of running water and Omar screaming louder)
Scene 5 – EXT

Narrator: Days roll by and the three boys are trying to find any
sign of human life. The city is still completely silent and there is
no sign of anything living anywhere. Josh and Matt have noticed that
Omar’s wound looks like its spreading around his body and there are
now cuts and blisters on his face, he’s not himself and he doesn’t
sleep…

Matt: Omar isn’t himself josh, what’s going on?

Josh: I don’t know Matt but all I do know is that he needs
help
Matt: Where is help though Josh! Where even are we!
Josh: I don’t know but just calm down
Matt: I can’t Josh I’m going insane!
(You can hear Omar’s footsteps as he approaches them)

Omar: Something isn’t right guys… I can’t breathe!

Josh: What?!
Matt: Omar what are you talking about?
Omar: I can’t brea…
(You can hear the sound of Omar suffocating)
Josh: Shit!
Matt: What do we do!
(You can hear the rustling of clothes and the sound of Omar choking)

Narrator:
Omar’s struggles come to an end as he stops
breathing, Josh and Matt cradle him in their arms,
grieving for their lost.
Minutes pass by and Omar’s body begins to shake and
foam starts to froth from his mouth.
(You can hear the sounds of the froth bubbling from his mouth)
Josh: What is happening to him!
(You can hear the sounds that Omar is making, growling and coughing
etc)
Matt: Josh! Let’s go!
Josh: This can’t be real
Matt: Josh! Run!
(You can hear heavy breathing and the sound of fast paced footsteps,
you can also hear Omar as he chases after them).

Josh: What is that? (Shouting)

Matt: I don’t know but that isn’t Omar!

(You again can hear the noises that omars making)

Matt: Josh! Hurry! He’s getting closer!

Josh: ahhhhhhhhh!
(The tempo of the music increases and the sound of Matt and Josh’s
footsteps gets louder and faster, you can hear Omar screaming,
running after them)

Narrator: As the two boys are running Omar catches up to them

and manages to grip onto Matt.

(You hear a thud, where Omar catches Matt)

Matt: Get off me! (screaming in fear)
(You can hear the sound of Matt screaming and the sound of Omar
growling and biting Matt)

Josh: MATT! NOOOOOOO!

Narrator: Matt is thrown to the floor and Omar bites a chunk

out of his neck. (You can hear the sounds of this) Josh grabs the
closest thing to him which is a wrench underneath a car, Josh runs
over to Matt and Omar and takes one heavy swing that connects with
Omar’s cheek and he is thrown off matt. Josh proceeds to repeatedly
hit Omar’s body with the wrench until he stops moving. (All of this
can be hear through Foley sounds and sound effects)

(You can hear the sound of Matt choking on his own blood)
Josh: Matt no! Don’t fall asleep! Stay with me mate!
(Matt’s noises come to an end as he passes)

Josh: NOOOOOO!
(You can hear the sound of Josh crying)
Josh: I’m sorry I couldn’t save you…

Narrator: At this point Josh runs from Matt and Omar’s body
until he comes to a bridge.

Josh: Everybody is gone, I’m alone, my best friend is dead,

my family are gone. Goodbye.

Narrator; Josh climbs onto the side of the bridge and throws
himself off of it, he lost everybody and the city was from then on
empty. No noise, no people, nothing.
