A quick look into a fruitful experience in print media/book publishing

I have spent over three decades in the print media and book publishing. I am capable of doing quality
writing/editing on any topic, banking on my following qualities:

1. A sincere, disciplined soul who gives 100% to the work in hand, aiming to make it stand out.
2. Rich experience of working in the print media, industry publications and book publishing
3. Ability to write crystal-clear, information-rich pieces on any topic
4. Online man, solid on Internet research — I fall back on the Internet or access authentic research to
upgrade my knowledge for penning good original pieces on given topics, or for fact-checking while
editing a given content.

The following details about my media/book publishing experience throw more light on my professional
competence:

PAST MEDIA JOBS

a) Hindustan Times (1989–2006) — Worked as sub-editor at the News Desk where I worked at the
Metro and States Sub-Desks. During my HT stint, I also wrote many middle pieces and features. I
joined HT as proof reader and was promoted to the sub-editor’s post.
b) Consulting Editor at DASH, a corporate lifestyle magazine (from Oct 2007 to May 2008) — I was in
total command of DASH with its owner giving some inputs about the content. I used to conduct
interviews and write/edit stories.
c) Senior Editor at SPIRITZ magazine (from June 2013 to February 2017) — My job involved preparing
questionnaires for e-interviews (which were mostly converted into stories or features by me after
receiving the responses in the Q/A format); conducting interviews in person; writing stories/editing
in-house or freelancers’ stories.

I started my career as proofreader in the now defunct Patriot newspaper in 1980.

Nature of work handled in book publishing – Online editing or rewriting a manuscript to simplify language;
drawing the author’s attention to problem areas (wrong facts and flaws in figures and tables), and
supervising the manuscript formatting into book.
