CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Healthcare services in the Philippines had been improvised for many years to the benefit of its
people. The government aims to provide the country of health services which everyone can afford.
However, the public doesn’t always respond the way the government expects.
There are health centers present in different barangays to cater to the community and are
responsible in the delivery of healthcare services. The health centers are provided by the government with
various medical supplies like medicines and different medical equipment. The government also provides
the country with different programs for various illnesses. The community needs only to go and visit the
health centers for their health needs like medicines, immunizations, consultations, etc. And it is for free.
But despite of all these supplies and programs provided by the government in the barangay health centers,
there are individuals in the community who do not utilize these services. This study attempts to know why
and what are the possible causes as to why there are individuals who do not utilize these services.
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The objective this study is to determine the relationship between the community’s perception and
utilization of the healthcare services in Barangay Baliwasan.
