HEALTHCARE REFORMS

Healthcare is a critical part of the society and without proper investments in the sector; the

society will be on the losing end due to loss of lives. The healthcare sector leaders have to ensure

that everything is in order and the any ailing individual will be able to get help fast. In a bid to

improve the state of healthcare, a number of reforms have to be initiated. This paper therefore

aims at coming up with a number of reforms that can be instituted in the healthcare sector in a

bid to ensure efficiency. It also aims at identifying stakeholders who will be seeking to invest in

the number of reforms that will be proposed.

A high number of individuals have had difficulty accessing affordable medication and this has

led to high number of deaths yet this situation could be arrested easily if the patients were aware

of favorable health policies or affordable health policies. Medical malpractice has on its part also

led to a number of deaths due to high level of negligence among doctors and offering licenses to

doctors without vetting if they indeed fit the kind of practice they are employed for.

Preventive services has for a long time been hard for individuals to access due to ignorance and

lack of proper health education to the entire public. The public have been in the dark regarding

preventive services for even immunizable diseases like measles.

In a bid to get a stakeholder, the government should instate an environment where they will be

able to exercise their interests towards the well-being of various patients within the state. In the

event that the stakeholders find there is a good arrangement in the healthcare operations, they

will be willing to offer financing for health programs within the state ( Stelfox et al, 2015).

The kind of stakeholders is the general public, the political class, international organizations and

non-governmental organizations. They can only be engaged in there is a proper and clear plan in

place that they can follow through and contribute as well ( Stelfox et al, 2015). The stakeholders

should therefore be presented with a health reform plan with all the problem areas clearly

highlighted and they will be able to figure out where they can come in.

Healthcare reforms should be introduced in a number of ways. To begin with, the payment

reforms that should be introduced should be done through an insurance plan. This will enable the

patients be able to know the much they will be able to spend in a particular health centre for

treatment (Guah, 2013). In addition, the insurance providers should be able to provide the

patients with a medical facility that can offer proper treatment.

On the other hand, there are patients who cannot afford insurance cover. In this case, the patients

should be informed of the maximum costs allowed at the facilities they will visit for treatment. A

billing and contact information of the facilities should also be availed to the patients to enable

them seek medication amicably (Guah, 2013).

Under medical malpractice, the doctor’s registration board should ensure that all the doctors

registered are qualified to practice medicine. The board should also institute laws that will guide

on what will be done whenever a doctor engages in medical malpractice, for instance withdrawal

of their license and even seek to communicate with the patients in order to come to an agreement

on what to do even if it is compensating the patients (Guah, 2013). Doctors should seek medical

practitioners’ laws that will guide them through certain procedures that may be complex so as to

ensure that they follow the required procedure to the latter.

Patient’s access to preventive services should be improved by availing immunization for diseases

like measles. The healthcare officials should inform the entire public of any form of virus on so

that they seek preventive measures (Guah, 2013). Nurses should be tasked with the role of

ensuring that educate the public on ways through which diseases can be prevented within the

public. Preventive measures can also be properly communicated by providing the public with

health manuals so that they can be aware of the means through which they can be safe from

contracting certain diseases.
