Tax depreciation calculation - India

Hi,
For calculating Tax depreciation for India, we use group assets in asset master (dep area 15).
SAP standard report J1IQ is obsolete and can not be used.
How to calculate tax depreciation for India.
Requirement for India tax depreciation is :
An asset is put to use < 180 days, depreciation will be 50% of the depreciation rate for that asset
(say dep rate is 15%, depreciation will be 7.5% of the asset value.
If asset is put to use > 180 days, depreciation will be 100% of the depreciation rate for that asset
(say dep rate is 15%, depreciation will be 15% of the asset value).
J1IQ is obsolete.
Most of the consultants are facing this problem.
What is the solution???????????

Which version are you in? I also face this problem.
I executed this report in 5.0. Looks like I got all the amounts correct except Depreciation column. Is
this because of obsolete?
I would like to know whether we need different asset classes for Group Assets or one Asset class
exclusively for ALL group assets would be sufficient?
thanks

Hi Nagesha,
Even I am facing the same issue with Indian Tax Depreciation area. We are implementing ECC6 to
our client. I strucked up with this issue for couple of days.
Do you have any idea how we setup Period controls and Multi level methods as per the given
percentages for year dependent Fiscal year April- March?
Thanks for the help.

Hi
The error is most likely because of the wrong configuration of our depreciation keys. for the same,
why not use the standard depreciation keys for income tax depreciation delivered in SAP. They take
care of this functionality of 180 days. However, if you have configured your own Depreciation Key for
Income Tax Depreciation, you need to check the following:
1. The period control method assigned to the Depreciation key and the period calculation
2. The Multi Level method assigned and if the correct percentage has been assigned to the multi
level method.
Thanks & regards

Dear All,
An Update...
The new solution for IT Depreciation as per India ACT 1961 is now avaible as a general release. The
solution is available only with EA-APPL Enhacment Package 5 and above. You need to upgrade to
EE605 to use tshi solution.
The solution does not use Group Asset concept.
The solution deals with the above requirement of put to use and other IT Dpreciation requirements
very effectively.
Best Regards,
Praveen Kumar
