WELCOME

Often Jesus escapes from the crowds pressing upon him to a de-
serted place to pray and to be re-energized. At times, we all feel
overwhelmed as if drowning by all kinds of obligations. Retreat
is pulling away – retreating – to rest and to regain perspective in
order to live Christ in everyday life.

Through Scripture, Prayer, Liturgy and Spiritual input we ask

God to fill us with his Peace. Many enter the doors of La Salette
broken, spent and searching. They leave restored.

Come and See! Rest, relax and re-create yourself. Drink from
the wellspring God offers you.

Fr. Bernie Baris, m.s.

one “defining” liturgy, unfolded during three days of celebration. Through

Scripture, the teachings of the Fathers of the Church, icons, pastoral reflections

April 11 – Half-day of Spirituality

“Introduction to the Poustinia Experience”
Anna Rae-Kelly, ocds
Do you feel beckoned by God to encounter him in silence, solitude, prayer?
The word “poustinia” is a Russian word meaning “desert”, ...a poustinia of the
heart. In the silent chamber within our being, a poustinia allows the seeking
soul to stand utterly still to give permission to the God within our being to
ignite his flame of love as we contemplate him. Bring only your Bible, and
your soul’s deep longing to encounter the Divine within to this Poustinia
Experience at La Salette. From 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Suggested donation: $25
per person.

April 21 – Half-day of Workshop

“Design Workshop”
Justin Richardson
Have you ever wondered how to get more people to your parish or church
events? Are you the one in your parish who is always sought out to make
tri-fold brochures, posters, or handouts? Do you struggle to advertise with
modern, good looking, and aesthetically pleasing graphics? You’re not alone.
Making interesting effective flyers and posters is one of the challenges of
working in a parish or school setting – especially when you have youth or
young adults in mind! This workshop will aim to help you to bring more
people into your programs, workshops, and parish events using very down-to-
earth and commonly used computer programs in order to make graphically
superior and artistically dynamic posters, flyers, and advertisements.** From
1:00pm to 5:00pm. Suggested donation: $ 30 per person.

**Adobe InDesign is not required for this course but is strongly recommended.

May 5 – Day of Prayer

“Walking in Mary’s Footsteps”
Dottie Levesque
This Day of Prayer will celebrate the life of the woman from Nazareth and
invite participants to walk with Mary on a personal journey to Bethlehem,
to visit Jesus where he preached, to the foot of the Cross, and to her personal
encounter with her risen Son. From 8:30am (registration) to 4:00pm. Lunch
included. Suggested donation: $45 per person.

May 23 – Day of Reflection

“Immersed, Enkindled, Anointed”
Sr. Bridget Haase, osu
Drawing on the three symbols of Baptism, Ursuline Sister Bridget Haase will
help us reflect on how our Baptism immerses us in the sacred of everyday life
(water); enkindles us with the fire of love (candle); and anoints us for service
to the world (oil). Encouraged by real-life stories of feeding starving children
in the desert of Sudan to living up a hollow with Appalachian mountain man,
Bird Bradley, to ministering to her mother in the long journey of Alzheimer’s,
Sister Bridget will help us claim and proclaim the power of our Baptism. From
8:30 (registration) to 4:00pm. Lunch included. Suggested donation: $45 per
person.

June 1-3 – Weekend Women’s Preached Retreat

“Weary and Anointed Women of the Bible”
Fr. Flavio Gillio, m.s. and Anna Rae-Kelly, ocds
The retreat will explore six women of the Bible who can become role models
for our life and faith journey. Retreatants will dive into the richness of selected
biblical narratives from both the Old and the New Testaments through
the personal practice of Lectio Divina (Sacred Reading) and the Ignatian
imaginative prayer, methods of praying that have a celebrated history in the
life of the Church. From Friday evening 7:00pm to Sunday afternoon 2:00pm.
Suggested Donation: $225 per person. Minimum number of participants for
the retreat to take place: 20. Registration and Deposit required.

June 15-17 – Weekend Preached Retreat

“Who Are You, Mrs. Deacon?”
Fr. Flavio Gillio, m.s., Dottie Levesque and Karen Boucher
Retreatants will examine and reflect on the identity and role of a Deacon’s
wife. Jesus asks: “Who do you say that I am?” Who are you? Husbands and
wives are joined in the Sacred Bond of Matrimony. The husband is called
by God to ordination… and the wife? What is her role and model? Come
reflect and pray over these questions. From Friday, 7:00pm to Sunday 2:00pm.
Suggested donation: $225 per person. Minimum number of participants for
the retreat to take place: 20. Registration and Deposit required.

July 19-26 – 7 Days Preached and Guided Retreat

“A Treasure in Jars of Clay:
Called to become Missionary-Disciples.”
Fr. Flavio Gillio, m.s. and Anna Rae-Kelly, ocds
The conscious decision to follow Jesus as a missionary disciple is more than
an intellectual assent to a belief in Christ; it involves the whole person and
implies pursuing Jesus of Nazareth and being imitators of him. Grounded in
Scripture and Tradition, the retreat will invite participants to approach Jesus
of Nazareth as the “Exemplary Evangelizer: how can we learn to effectively
and creatively evangelize, helping our local Christian communities to move
from maintenance to mission oriented communities and disciples-making
communities? The retreat starts on Thursday evening at 7:00pm and ends
the following Thursday after breakfast. Suggested donation: $500 per person.
Registration and Deposit required.

August 3-5 – Weekend Preached Retreat

“Multicolored Halos: Saints and Everyday Holiness.”
Sr. Bridget Haase, osu
“Me, a saint? Hardly!” On this weekend retreat we will look at the lives of
three saints who affirm the holiness of our own experiences. They, as we will
one day, have exchanged their crosses, challenges, and longings for a crown
of glory. They encourage us to be faithful to our journey and to hold the hand
of God as we take the high road! From Friday 7:00pm to Sunday 2:00pm.
Suggested donation: $ 225 per person. Minimum number of participants for
the retreat to take place: 20. Registration and Deposit required.

Daily life are an acknowledged tool to reconnect with Jesus of Nazareth and
with yourself in a life-giving way, and to become more Christ-like right in the
midst of your daily life. From 9:30am to 4:00pm. Lunch included. Suggested

“At the Feet of the Master:
Keys to Well-being, Spiritual Growth and Discipleship”
Fr. Flavio Gillio, m.s. and Dr. Sally Riconscente
A Christ-centered way of living promotes a flourishing life. In light of the
enthusiastic and positive response of prior participants, workshop leaders Fr.
Flavio Gillio, M.S. and Dr. Sally Riconscente invite you to attend the expanded
four-days program to explore human attitudes that build up or tear down our
process toward well-being.
In dialogue with Scripture, Spirituality, and Psychology, Fr. Flavio Gillio, m.s.
and Dr. Sally Riconscente will propose a journey of human development and
spiritual enrichment through the following components: two presentations
per workshop on the topic of the day; time for personal reflection to internalize
the content of the presentations; individual or group guided meditation to
become attuned to our inner movements that may enhance or hinder our
growth toward well-being; group-sharing for mutual enrichment.

pursue? Is it time to change your job? How can you know if you should be
married or live a single life? Sooner or later life brings before you such major
life decisions.
No one can answer to such major questions for you. Your answers will
determine the path you will follow. As such, making good decisions can be
one of the greatest challenges. How to choose well? This retreat will lead
you on a journey of prayer and self-reflection. Come and learn the process
of discernment and making decisions by listening to your life, experiences,
feelings and desires. Come and learn how to respond in concrete ways to
God’s presence at work in your life. The retreat is designed for young adult
men and women, 18-35 years old. From Friday 7:00pm to Sunday 2:00pm.
Suggested donation: $200. Scholarships available upon request.

“A Journey to the Manger:
Waiting in Joyful Hope Inside the Christmas Story”
La Salette Retreat and Conference Center Team
The seasons of Advent and Christmas challenge us to slow down and to take
a step back from the pressing concerns of everyday life, in order to reflect
prayerfully on our current state of our relationships –with ourselves, God,
the people around us and the world in which we live. Through insightful
biblical readings related to the “Christmas Narrative” and inspiring reflections
from contemporary spiritual masters (Henry Nouwen, Thomas Merton, and
others), the retreat will breathe new life into the familiar Christmas stories,
wove them into the fabric of our lives and spiritual formation, and draw out
implication for our day to-day living. Come and give a new meaning to our
Christmas celebration. Journey with us to the manger, inside the Christmas
Story while waiting in joyful hope!” From Friday 7:00pm to Sunday 2:00pm.
Suggested donation: $225 per person. Minimum number of participants for
the retreat to take place: 20. Registration and Deposit required.

Youth Retreats
On September 19th of 1846, the blessed Mother told Maximin and Melanie
to “make her message known to all her people.” This has been at the heart of
the La Salette Retreat Center since it’s opening in 1964. During the past 54
years, we’ve ministered to thousands of teens. Never has the reconciliatory
message of Our Lady of La Salette been more important than it is right now.
Knowing this and with teachers, administrators, and religious educators
in mind, we have designed two separate retreats for you to choose from for
your group, each with a different atmosphere, layout, and message: Reversed
Youth Retreat and Custom Youth Retreat.
Find out more about these two youth retreat by visiting our website at www.
lasaletteretreatcenter.com or by writing to our Youth Retreat Facilitator Justin
Richardson at lsyouthretreat@gmail.com. Simply pick the retreat which best
fits your group and we’ll go from there. Never has planning a youth retreat
been quite so easy.

Grief Education and Support

The loss of a loved one in death is the greatest loss one faces and often
the most piercing pain one will experience. Most people are physically,
emotionally and spiritually affected by the death of someone close. In a safe,
compassionate and confidential forum you will have the opportunity to learn,
share and explore feelings and find ways to accept and to cope.
Facilitator for the Grief Education Program: Sr. Judith Costa, ssd.
Facilitator for the Bereavement Support Program: Dottie Levesque.
Call the Retreat and Conference Center for the dates in 2018 and more
