Eight sites of Sri Lanka have been inscribed in the UNESCO world heritage namely,

The ancient city of Plonnaruwa


The second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms, Pollonnaruwa was first declared the capital city
by king Vijayabahu I. today the ancient city of Pollonnaruwa remains one of the best planned
archeological relic sites in the country,standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the
kingdom’s first rulers.
The sacred city of Kandy
The Sri Dalada Maligawa or The Temple Of The Sacred Tooth Relic is a temple in the city of Kandy,
Sri Lanka. It was built within the royal palace complex which houses the tooth relic of the buddha
,a tooth, which is venerated by Buddhist.

The sacred city of Sigiriya


Sigiriya, consists of an ancient castle used by King Kashypa. The upper palace on the top of the
rock includes cisterns cut into the rock that still retain water. The moats and walls that surround
the lower palace are still exquisitely beautiful.

The ancient city of Anuradhapura


Anuradhapura is the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka which lasted for the longest period as the
capital in the country. It is important for locals to religion, history and the culture and the world
famous for its well preserved ruins of the great Sri Lankan civilization.
The old town of Galle
Galle is a townsituated on the sothwestern tip of Sri Lanka. Galle reached the height of its
development in the 18th century, before the arrival of the British, who developed the harbour at
Colombo.
Cave temple Dambulla.
It is the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. There are more than 80
documented caves in the surrounding. major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contains
statues and paintings of Loard Buddha.
Sinharaja forest reserve
Sinharaja is of international significance and has been designated a biosphere reserve and world
heritage site.
Central highlands of Sri Lanka
This site comprises the
