The JaJaDyLiRaBra Government

A. As with any civilization, a strong and powerful government is needed in order to have a
long lasting settlement, and to have order and calm. In JaJaDyLiRaBra, the government
is in charge of many things. First, there is a book of laws, called The Voda, that provide
guidelines and rules for the citizens of JaJaDyLiRaBRa. If any one of these rules are
broken, there is a certain consequence. Also, the government collects taxes once a
month. Things that may be collected include precious gems, corn, chickens, dogs,
wheat, fine pottery, and etc. The taxes are for the good of the civilization, and they
believe it pleases the water gods and the king and queen of the land. There is a rybep
(governor) of the four sections (or odjels) of JaJaDyLiRaBra. Each governor is responsible
for making sure the people are calm and well-behaved, as well as doing their jobs and
paying their taxes. The rybep also serves as the holy priests or priestesses of their
section. Finally, the government makes sure the citizens of the civilization are protected
and have their own rights as listed in The Voda.
B. All the laws of JaJaDyiRaBra are written in the Voda. It was written by some of the first
settlers of the civilization, although it gets rewritten over and over again. The book of
broken down into 4 parts: Crimes and Punishments, Family and Marriage, Rights of
Citizens, and Mandatory Actions.
a. Crimes and Punishments
i. If somebody murders someone, both of their hands must be chopped off.
ii. If somebody murders more than two people, they are immediately put to
death by form of drowning in the ocean of Dyli.
iii. If somebody kidnaps a child or other person, they are sent to be put to
death, by method of beating.
iv. If somebody steals something from a house or business, the person’s eyes
are taken out.
v. If somebody injures someone else purposefully, they are beat to the point
of bleeding in the face.
vi. If a child is disrespectful to an adult or older relative, either the mother’s or
father’s tongue must bear a hole in it.
vii. If two people start a brawl in the middle of the village, they are both
exiled from the JaJaDyLiRaBra.
viii. If there is a case where there are no witnesses or anyone to say the person
is guilty, the king and queen give the accused person a special task. The
person must come back in 2 days with a piece of jewelry for the queen. If
she likes it, he is free of charge. If she doesn’t, he is charged with the
crime.
ix. Any person that leaves garbage on the floor, excluding in their home, is
ordered for sanitary duty for a year.
b. Family and Marriage
i. Men and women are both only allowed to have one spouse at a time.
ii. Before a man and woman are married, they have to get approved by
the rybep of their section. If the rybep doesn’t approve of the marriage,
the two are not allowed to get married for as long as they’re in
JaJaDyLiRaBra.
iii. In order to finalize a marriage, there must be a signed document issued
by the rybep.
iv. Arranged marriages aren’t approved, unless it’s to make a business deal
with the other family.
v. The king is allowed to marry any woman he would like. If the woman
doesn’t comply, she is exiled.
vi. Divorce is allowed, however there must be a legitimate reason, such as
miscarriages or loss of interest.
vii. A man or a woman is allowed to get married a max of 5 times. If they
divorce their 5th spouse, they are not allowed to marry ever again.
viii. If a man cheats on his wife, one of his testicles get chopped off.
ix. If a woman cheats on her husband, one of her breasts get chopped off.
x. Having relations with family members is strictly prohibited.
c. Rights of Citizens
i. A man has the right to 1/4th acre of land for every child he has.
ii. Men and women are never to be equal. Men have some advantages
over women, while women have other rights over men.
iii. Men are not allowed in the streets past 11 o’clock pm til sunrise. If so, they
must be escorted by their wife. If he doesn’t have a wife, they must be
taken by their mom, sister, relative, etc.
iv. A woman can’t work as builders, miners, farmers, or traders. However, only
women are allowed to be teachers, doctors, or justice women.
v. A farmer is limited to 50 gallons of water a day for his crops. If he is lucky,
the rivers will flood or the gods will pour down rain. If he wishes for more
water, he will be seen as greedy and he will only get 30 gallons a day for
the period of a month.
vi. The King and the Queen are above the law. Their children are not,
however.
d. Mandatory Actions
i. Taxes are collected from every family once a month. They must give up
their most valuable possession, or their best crop of the month.
ii. Orders from the King, Queen, or the rybep of a section must be followed.
iii. If an army is needed at any time, any man over the age of 12 can be
ordered to serve. However, he can only serve 5 years without consent.
Once five years are up, he has the right to choose to stay or not.
iv. A woman must bathe once a day, whenever. A man must twice a day,
when he wakes and when he is about to sleep.
v. If there is trash on the floor, it must be picked up.
C. The type of government is a theocracy/monarchy. The Water Gods and other gods have
complete control of the land, because they demand that they be respected and
worshipped. Without them, the people of JaJaDyLiRaBra will rot, and everything they
worked for will be destroyed. The Water Gods will flood the civilization, and nothing will
be saved. The King and Queen make sure the gods rules are followed, although no one
knows how they keep in contact. The priest/priestesses/governors have control over one
of the 4 quadrants because JaJaDyLiRaBra is too big to be controlled by only the King
and Queen.
D. This type of government (theocracy) was chosen because we believe that the gods
have a say over everything that we do. They are our rulers, and we are totally submissive
to them. It only makes sense that they run our government.
