Background of the

Organization: Background of the organization: Sewa Bharti engage

the people for the cause of the unfortunate and

channelizing their energies into an organized

movement to eradicate pain, poverty, inequality and

illiteracy in the Bhartiye Society. Sewa Bharathi came

into being in 1984. Over the years, it has come a long

way in servicing its avowed objective. Today, Sewa

Bharathi has its presence spread across the entire

country with an extensive range of charitable and

community development activities. Set up in 2002

with moderate means and a canvas of activities, it has

grown into an expansive network across Himachal

Pradesh. Sewa Bharathi Himachal Pradesh committed

 for human values and indigenous efforts, its focus is

localized yet anyone can take it as a model

organization to replicate efforts towards society.

Vision: Creation of a socially harmonious cohesive self-reliant

society cherishing the ideals of Indian cultural values

of equity, love and universal brotherhood through

Sewa, Sanskaar and Samrasata.

Mission: Serve the society specially the deprived and needy

through educational, vocational, healthcare and socio-

cultural programs focusing on self-reliance, self-

confidence, self-esteem, equality, social harmony and

promotion and protection of their cultural values

 Previous Achievements

Blood donation Camp: Blood is one of gift of god which is manufactured in

body itself and nowhere else. There is need of blood

for patients in emergency and causality and those

undergoing surgeries. Awakened to the reality, we

hold blood donation camps regularly where our youths

donate blood voluntarily. The blood bank authorities

of Govt. hospital are well acquainted with our work

which is being carried under their supervision. Every

unit of Sewa Bharti HP at district level organize blood

donation camps, it becomes regular event for various

units of Sewa Bharti. We have observed that a sense

of fear associated with blood donation in society, so

we decided to organize these camps in order to

motivate peoples to donate blood without any fear.

Over the years we have seen the impact of these

programs that people themselves coming forward to

donate blood, Sewa Bharti till now collected 850 units

of blood through these camps.

Sewing Center: Various units of Sewa Bharti HP trained

approximately 7000 women under “women

 empowerment through improvement of economic

system” program. Sewa Bharti HP runs Sewing center

across the state to cater the needs of such training.

Women trained under these programs are either

working at their village level or working at sewing

center started by government of HP at block level.

According to women trained at this center, they

achieved financial sustainability through this program.

Anti-Drug Movement: Sewa Bharti HP organizes various programs against

drug addiction in the state. Various units of Sewa

Bharti successfully enriching out to approx 1100

people. We have initial success in the program as we

able to connect local community with the cause.

Cultural Events: Sewa Bharti runs BalSanskarKendras for children

from 6 yrs- 18 yrs, where besides, guidance in

academic course (by giving tuitions after School

hours), children are acquainted with the Sanskars by

imparting them knowledge about our country, our

national and religious festivals, our culture and

 heritage, our history through debates on social topics,

cultural shows and such like activities.

Health: Health is probably the main target of modern life

style. Irregular food habits, intake of junk and canned

foods and beverages, unnecessary and damaging inter-

ference in our food habits and life style by

advertisement of vested and influential parties through

print and visual media,has taken the toll of our health.

Prohibitive medical treatment and unaffordable

medicines have added to this problem. Realizing the

importance of awareness Progra- mmes in this Sector,

Sewa Bharti HP has been holding health Awareness

Camps/ free medical camps/ Health inspection of

children in remote areas in HP and distributing free

medicines to needy patients. Health Examination of

children in schools is also being conducted Medical

camp in Slum Area to ensure detection of any disease

in children to enable its early and timely treatment.

More than 1800 citizen benefitted through various

programs run by Sewa Bharti.

Ambulances: There are 9 ambulances to carry patients and their

dependents within city or outside the state at bare

minimum charges (To cater to cost of petrol and wear

and tear.)Provisions for carrying dead bodies along

with their dependents at odd hours within or outside

the city or outside the State also exist. More than one

lakh families benefited through ambulances and dead

body van combined.

KanyaVivah: Sewa Bharti HP helps girls in their marriage those

who hails from weaker section of the society. Sewa

Bharti donate 20 K to each such girl during their

marriage.

Swach Bharat Abhiyan: Under SBA SewaBharati organized various awareness

camp across state.

Blood Testing Laboratory : Sewa Bharti HP runs Blood Testing Laboratory in

order to provide services to citizen at door step. Till

now more than 1000 peoples benefitted through this

program.
Enquiry Center: For some time it was noticed that patients from for

flung areas, referred to, for treatment at IGMC

Shimla,Tanda Medical College Kangra or various

district level hospital loose precious time owing to

their non-acquaintance with the hospitalor relevant

doctors.Sewa Bharti as such has started a “May I help

you” counter at OPD Causality /Emergency, where

voluntary services are available. Our Volunteers guide

them to the proper doctor. More than 2000 families

benefitted through these centers.In addition to

guidance and care rendered to the patients, blankets

and cloth bags(since polythene bags are banned inside

the hospital) are provided free on “to be returned

basis” to the attendants of the patients.

Environment: Realizing the dangers, our good earth is fraught with

owing to pollution, we undertake Plantation drives in

which the children are the main participants. It besides

fulfilling the purpose of plantation, settles down the

feeling of responsibility towards environment in the

impregnable minds. About 900 plants have been

 planted within last two years and also ensured their

protection.

Social functions: Religious and national festivals are the occasion

which a society should celebrate together. We

Celebrate these function in the zeal and fervor along

with the Children from slums and backward Areas. It

helps us many ways, it brings smile on their faces

(which are usually absent), it brings peace to our ears

and it helps built a society where brother hood and

equality is the main.

VivekanadChatravas: In our social obligation as Citizens of an

Independence Country, we felt the need of

Constructing a hostel at Mandi, where at present the

number of inmates is 31 Children from remote

backward areas, or who are economically backward

have been drawn from areas and admitted in the

hostel. SewaBharti HP takes care of their boarding

lodging, Education/ Tuition/Uniform etc.
