MARKET INSIGHTS: On Thursday Sep 02 2010, Selling pressure in late trade wiped off
DATA MATRIX OF LAST SESSION almost entire gains of the key benchmark indices in contrast to a strong start. European
INDEX Close Pts. Chg Chg stocks edged higher in volatile trade. Asian markets were firm on encouraging economic
Sensex 18238 33 0.18% data. The BSE 30-share Sensex provisionally rose 16.29 points or 0.09%, off close to 130
points from the day's high and up close to 5 points from the day's low. The S&P CNX

Nifty slipped below the psychological 5,500 mark after moving above and below that
Midcap 7784 60 0.78% level in the day. The market breadth was strong with small and mid-cap stocks joining
Smallcap 9821 108 1.11% the rally. Fresh buying pushed auto, banking, metal and consumer durables stocks
higher. Jaiprakash Associates surged on strong cement sales in the month gone by. Index
VALUE TRADED (Rs Crs) Chg heavyweight Reliance Industries was firm. Sugar stocks rose on reports of possible
decontrol in prices. It moved in a narrow range in morning trade. Thereafter, it held firm
BSE 5270 2.13% in mid-morning and early afternoon trade. It pared gains in a volatile afternoon trade
NSE 13337 -0.46% only to regain strength in mid-afternoon trade. It cut gains in late trade as index
F&O Total 84089 -8.76% heavyweight Reliance Industries pared gains.
The BSE 30-share Sensex rose 16.29 points or 0.09% to 18,222.16, as per provisional
NET INFLOWS (Rs Crs) Chg closing. The index rose 149.97 points at the day's high of 18,355.84 in early trade. The
Sensex rose 9.41 points at the day's low of 18,215.28 in early trade. As per provisional
FIIs 82.0 -77% closing, the S&P CNX Nifty rose 9.20 points or 0.17% to 5,481.05 after striking day's
DIIs -118.0 -170% high of 5,513.95 in early trade. The BSE Mid-Cap index rose 0.77% and the BSE Small-
Cap index rose 1.12%. Both the indices outperformed the Sensex.
FII OPEN INTEREST (Crs) Chg European markets edged higher in volatile trade on Thursday ahead of the European
FII Index Futures 15900 0.66% Central Bank's interest rate decision and US pending home sales. Key benchmark
indices in UK, Germany and France were up by between 0.05% to 0.14%. Asian stock
FII Index Options 65832 1.57% markets advanced on Thursday, after Wall Street soared on encouraging
FII Stock Futures 35703 1.03% manufacturing data. The key benchmark indices in Hong Kong, China, South Korea,
FII Stock Options 705 8.71% Taiwan, Singapore and Japan were up by between 0.13% to 1.52%. However,
Indonesia's Jakarta Composite fell 0.42%.
World Indices Chg NEWS ROOM: Exports rose for the ninth straight month in July 2010, growing an annual
Dow Jones 10320 904.87% 13.2% to $16.24 billion, the latest government data showed. Imports for the month rose
34.3% to $29.17 billion, widening the country's trade deficit to $12.93 billion. Exports
Nasdaq 2200 1.06% during the April-July period rose 30.1% to $68.63 billion. The trade deficit edged back
FTSE 100 5371 0.09% into double digits in April 2010 after averaging $9.1 billion in Q4 March 2010 and has
remained elevated since then. Latest data shows the gap stood at $12.93 billion in July
Commodity Chg 2010, highest since September 2008 and widening further from $10.55 billion in June 2010
Crude Oil (US$/bl) 76.5 0.66% The trade deficit edged back into double digits in April 2010 after averaging $9.1 billion in
Q4 March 2010 and has remained elevated since then.

TECHNICAL VIEW: Absolutely a sluggish session we have gone through yesterday. Opened on a relatively higher note
backed by strong global cues, spot index shown sought of resistance around 5500 level , ended up with slightly modest gains .
Remember we have said earlier that 5340 will be the key support zone. Exactly to our expectations spot index shown some
materialistic cushions at this level though we expect quite a range bound scenario between 5340-5535 in the upcoming sessions.
Hence traders and investors are advise to maintain cautiously optimistic approach and use ‘Buy on Dip ‘ strategy for the
upcoming sessions. HAPPY TRADING....
