Exclusive Facilities available
 The department of Livestock Products Technology (Centre of
Excellence in Meat Science & Technology) is unique in our
country.
 Well equipped multi species abattoir,
 Analytical laboratory,
 Gamma radiation chamber, refrigerated storage facility and
 Completely conveyorised poultry processing plant has the
capacity of 260 birds/h.
 The air conditioned meat processing hall with imported
processing equipments and automatic smoking chamber, walk in
deep freezers, chillers, plate freezer, workshop and 63KV standby
generator are other facilities attached to this.
 Carcass utilization plant as per EU regulation.
The department has state-of the-art research
facilities including

 Multiphor for isoelectric focusing,


 UV-VIS spectrophotometer,
 UTM, laminar flow work bench,
 BOD incubator, AAS, DNA Thermal Cycler,
 HPLC, Gel documentation system,
 ELISA Plate Reader, refrigerated centrifuge,
 Polytron homogenizer, Horizontal electrophoresis unit with
heavy duty power pack
 Unique facility for irradiation of meat and meat products
employing Gamma radiation chamber

Achievements:
 Developed various value added meat products, Pet food
and Dermal Substitutes as biomaterials
 Providing hygienic and wholesome meat and meat
products to the public
 Trained thousands of students and entrepreneurs so far
 So far 24 MVSc Theses and two PhD theses have been
submitted.

inspection and wholesome meat production.

Research and Development
 Develop technology for cleaning, deodorizing, tenderizing and
enhancing keeping quality of tripe for commercial application
 Development of certain novel shelf- stable meat products
 Development of computer aided designs of Abattoirs and Meat
processing plants for entrepreneurship and outreach programmes
 Establishment of incubation centre for meat entrepreneurs
 Establishment of center for animal-derived biomaterials and
biomolecules
 Standardization of packaging technique for fresh and processed meat
and poultry for medium scale entrepreneurial adoption.
 Technology development for value added ready to eat egg, chicken,
egg-chicken based products for adaptation on a cottage scale
production

 Establishing of pet foods manufacturing unit- using slaughter
house byproducts
 Establishing of meat products innovation and training centre
with state of art of facilities
 Utilisation of by-products (blood) from Municipal slaughter by
the process of Dry rendering for the production of organic
manure
 ISO certification of the meat technology unit.
 Entrepreneurship development through incubation centre-
providing technology, facilities and man power for meat
production and processing.
 Setting of quality control referral lab for livestock products.
