ROLE PLAY

Uncle: Sam, today I am going for shopping. Do you want to come long?
Sam: Oh sure! I would like to join you. Where are we going?
U: To the city. You can see the city as well.
S: Did you take the shopping list?
U: I need to buy an electric iron, notebooks for the kids, a pair of shoes
and some grocery
S: Then we will have to go to many shops
U: That‟s not necessary. We shall go to Pothys. It‟s a “one stop shop”.
You can get everything you need under one roof.
S: Everything?
U: Yes. Everything from „a pin to an Elephant‟.
S: Oh really?
U: Sam, can u see the board of Pothys?
S: Yes. This shop is at the heart of the city. That is good, so that people
can come here easily. But now where do we park our car? There is little
space next to the shop.
U: Don‟t worry. The shop has a parking area.
S: That‟s helpful.
U: Have you seen such a big shop in your village?
S: No. This is huge and what are those statues in front of the shop?
U: They are models to denote a special season or day to entertain customers
S: Uncle, how will you pick what you need from such a big shop?
U: Sam, here the products are arranged in each floor. You can buy grocery,
vegetables and food products from one floor, clothes from another,
electronic goods from yet another floor.
S: But how do we go up to the other floors? Should we climb the stairs?
U: We can either take the escalator or the elevator/lift.
Sam, we can decide which floor to go by looking at the list of products
available in each floor.
S: My God! There are so many varieties of things here. I haven‟t seen these
many varieties in my entire life. How do they buy so many things?
U: There is a purchase department which is responsible for all the purchases.
They directly buy from the manufacturers so that they get goods at lower
cost. They have a huge godown to store these goods.
By the way, I am hungry. Are you?
S: Yes. But we may take long to reach home.
