Worship is the best and most meritous act, the benefits of which are: 1. Providing peace of mind 2. Strengthening the soul 3. Ensuring tranquility That’s why the Apostle (the Prophet Mustafa Muhammad Al Amin, u*, 570-632 A.D.) would resort to Salaat (worship) whenever he was frustrated. Since it is capable of providing the worshipper with spiritual strength and offering a good chance of physical exercise as well as meditation, it could be the most effective means of working out the problems one can encounter in his life. Al Qur'aan (The Koran) 114 Books of Ahmad (Muhammad) 2:153 (Originally revealed 87 in Medina 624-626 A.D., verse 286 in Mecca 632 A.D.) Bante (oS Htc Sabigts "O YOU WHO ARE FAITHFUL, SEEK HELP BY WAY OF PATIENCE AND WORSHIP (SALAAT); FOR SURELY ALLAH IS WITH THE PATIENT ONES. (153)" Therefore the Qur'aan has put a lot of emphasis on it. For instance it occurs in one of the Prophet Abraham's (.,2, 2078-1903 B.C.E.) supplications in the Qur'aan. Al Qur'aan (The Koran) 114 Books of Ahmad (Muhammad) 14:40 (In Part) (Originally revealed 72 in Mecca 620 A.D., except 28 and 29) ep sla, "MY SUSTAINER, MAKE ME (ABRAHAM) RAISE UP TO WORSHIP AND FROM MY OFFSPRING (ISHMAELITES, _ISRAELITES, MIDIANITES).. (40)" The command of worship came in the first words revealed to the Prophet Moses ( ue , 1593- 1473 B.CE.). Al Qur'aan (The Koran) 114 Books of Ahmad (Muhammad) 20:13,14 (Originally revealed 45 in Mecca 612-613 A.D., verse 130-131 Medinan) "AND I (ALLAH) HAVE CHOSEN YOU (MOSES) SO LISTEN TO WHAT I WILL INSPIRE YOU WITH. (13) INDEED I AM WHO I AM, ALLAH, NOTHING WOULD EXIST EXCEPT BY WAY OF ME, SO SERVE ME AND UPKEEP MY WORSHIP IN ORDER TO REMEMBER ME. (14)" The Messiah Jesus ( ve , 7 - 127 AD.) proclaimed it (worship) to be an essential principle of his teachings, while yet in the cradle. Al Qur'aan (The Koran) 114 Books of Ahmad (Muhammad) 19:31 (In Part) (Originally revealed 44 in Mecca 615, verses 58 & 71 Medinan) ELAR slat ".. AND HE (ALLAH) HAS ENJOINED ON ME THE WORSHIP (SALAAT) AND CHARITY (ZAKAAT) FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE. (31)" And ALLAH () made it a strong description for Al Muttagiya (3-324! _, those who tremble at the mention of ALLAH). Al Qur'aan (The Koran) 114 Books of Ahmad (Muhammad) 2:2,3 (In Part) (Originally revealed 87 in Medina 624-626 A.D., verse 286 in Mecca 632 AD.) ".. IT’S A GUIDANCE TO THE SELECT WHO TREMBLE AT THE MENTION OF ALLAH. (2) THESE ARE THEY WHO ARE FAITHFUL TO THE UNSEEN, AND THEY PERFORM WORSHIP (SALAAT). . .(3)" Salaat is an abiding obligation on each individual Muslim, male or female. Al Qur'aan (The Koran) 114 Books of Ahmad (Muhammad) 4:103 (In Part) (Originally revealed 92 in Medina 625-627 A.D) BGS is EEE AG, ".. INDEED WORSHIP (SALAAT) HAS BEEN DECREED FOR THE FAITHFUL AT SPECIFIC TIMES. (103)” It (salaat) is the light of the faithful and their evidence and the path for their deliverance on the day of resurrection. The Apostle (the Prophet Muhammad, y) said: "Whoever observes worship regularly it will be a guiding light, an argument and a deliverance for him in the day of resurrection, and whoever doesn’t observe it regularly there will be for him no guiding light or an argument or a deliverance and he will be assembled on the day of resurrection with Qaaruwn and Fir'uwn and Haamaan and ’Ubay ibn Kalaf. And supreme place of worship was its law in the heavens. ALLAH guided us to the right way and our face to upkeep the worship which fills our hearts with fear and reminds us of His supremacy. Performance of worship starts off by reciting the intention (Niyyat) of that particular time and don’t proclaim it if it’s not in the heart. The worshipper then recites Takbiyratul Thraam (Magnification of the a Prohibition) by saying: ! 251 "dil aS ALLAH IS MOST MAGNIFICENT (OF ALL THINGS SEEN AND UNSEEN) * When a woman performs the position of Takbiyratul Ihraam, she may bring hands parallel to shoulders, never higher. Raising his two arms quickly and parallel to his two shoulders (and up to his ear lobes, then lowering them and placing right hand over left on the left side of the chest) he starts to recite the chapter which opens the Qur'aan (The Gratitude) along with a short chapter or some verse of the Qur'aan. Then he recites the Magnification of the Prohibition raising his two arms parallel to his shoulders (the man raises his two hands and places thumbs on each ear lobe. When a woman performs the position of Takbiyratul Ihraam, she may bring hands parallel to shoulders, never higher.) and says: ony 2S ai ALLAH IS MOST MAGNIFICENT (OF ALL THINGS SEEN AND UNSEEN) = Then he bows down in a way that his back should be straight and he places his hands on his knees, opening his fingers on the knees and legs and says: pebill 25 OR GLORY TO MY SUSTAINER THE SUPREME (three times) : ¥ Then he stands straight raising his hands parallel to his shoulders (placing thumbs on each ear lobe) = saying: oles Gall aes ALLAH LISTENS TO (THOSE) WHO SHOW HIM GRATITUD! Starting the second rak’ah (complete performance of all the positions of worship) doing the same acts as in the first rak’ah. When he is through with the second prostration, he sits on his left front, with the right foot erected (behind him touching floor), placing his right hand on his right thigh —>"S touching the knee, and also = the left hand on his left thigh touching the knee to recite the Bearing of Witness: The Bearing of Witness sis en Zee oe val 325 "The reverence is to ALLAH and the good worships and the good works, peace be upon you O Prophet and the mercy of ALLAH and His blessings, peace be upon us and the slaves of ALLAH, the perfectionist. During recitation of the Bearing of Witness when he gets to the point: Sry ayy of 3g "T bear witness that nothing would exist if ALLAH didn’t create it" He raises his pointer (finger of his right hand while reciting the above phrase) and thus he should do in the rest of the raka’aat. INDEED WORSHIP (SALAAT) HAS BEEN DECREED ON THE FAITHFUL AT SPECIFIC TIMES. (103)" a2 This is the voice of the one who calls us to worship. The mandatory prayers are five, required from each male and female Muslim every day and night. Worship has been made obligatory to be a measure of communication between a slave and his Sustainer. The worshipper stands humbly before his Sustainer who created him and who bestows grace upon him, supplicating him and begging mercy, contentment, provision, strength and guidance to the straight path. CONDITIONS OF WORSHIP: One of the most important conditions of worship is ablution and that is by way of purification from impurity. 2 1. The Ablution (Al Wuduwu +3231): Before performing worship one should perform minor ablution on the condition that he should already be ceremonially pure (clean of any impurity). Worship is not acceptable if this basic condition is not met. ALLAH TA’ALA commands us to perform minor ablution providing that we are clear of any impurity. Al Qur'aan (The Koran) 114 Books of Ahmad (Muhammad) 5:6 (In Part) (Originally revealed 112 in Medina 627-629 A.D., verse 3 Meccan 632 A.D.) : PAYS RES Abts ApH A els wiped % Rete 12 "O YOU WHO HAVE FAITH! WHEN YOU RISE UP, IN ORDER TO MAKE YOUR SALAAT (WORSHIP), SO YOU ARE TO WASH YOUR FACES AND YOUR HANDS UP TO THE ELBOWS, AND WIPE YOUR HEADS AND YOUR FEET UP TO THE ANKLES; AND IF YOU ARE IN A STATE OF PURITY, MAKE THE PROPER ABLUTION. .. (6)" The Minor Ablution goes as follows: 1. Washing the hands (first the right and then the left hand three times each) 2, Rinsing the mouth three times 3. Sniffing the water three times 4, Washing the entire face three times 5, Washing the right arm up to the elbow three times 6. Washing the left arm up to the elbow three times 7. Wiping the head (from front to back three times) 8. Wiping the ears internally and externally (three times and then the neck from back to front three times) 9. Washing the feet up to the ankles (three times) The wisdom behind minor ablution is cleaning up the body, offering preservation against infections and revitalizing the body. 13 Besides minor ablution, other conditions are to be observed. For example the worshipper should clean his body, his garb and the place where he worships. However, if he is completely unable to remove his impurity, he is permnited'ic D to perform his prayer and not be obliged with repeating it later. After the performance of minor ablution, the worshipper starts worship by reciting the Tqaama ( aN) second call to worship indicating the beginning of worship).
