Reality-Based activity Plan

Title: Better Health Through Better Living

I. Description of the Therapy (Adult Education)


Adult education is a practice in which adults engage in systematic and sustained
self-educating activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or
values.

II. Description of Chosen topic


Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with
physical activity, diet can help reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce risk of chronic
diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote the overall health.

III. Objectives
Short Term:
After the therapy, the patients will have a better understanding and a broader
knowledge towards their health.

Long Term:
After the activity, the patients will have an improved well-being, and they will follow
healthy lifestyles to prevent disease, illness and injury.

IV. Therapeutic Values


Staying healthy physically can help stay healthy emotionally too. Eating the right food
and keeping fit can keep the body strong and help cope with stress and also fight
illness.

VII. Mechanics
1. The student nurse will introduce the topic (Health Promotion).
2. The student nurse will ask questions about the topic in order to assess the patients’
present knowledge about it.
3. The student nurse will explain the topic and ask the patients for examples of a
healthy lifestyle.
4. The student nurse will assess the patients’ knowledge about the topic by conducting
a small activity:

a. Each patient will be given one marker, a piece of paper, and stickers.
b. The student nurse will ask the patients to make a schedule of their daily
routine.
c. The student nurse will ask them to add in their schedule activities to improve
each of the following: mental health, emotional health, physical health, and spiritual
health. The patients can design their outputs will markers and stickers.
e.g.
"On my walk to school, I will try to think positive about my day."
"I will spend a few moments in prayer or meditation before I go to sleep."
"I will do some yoga while I watch tv at night."

5. The student nurse will ask some patients to share their daily schedule.

1. The time allotted for the patients to participate.
