FALSIS, 4A

ASSIGNMENT NO. 2: Why IP rights are made exclusive to

creators of intellectual properties, yet only for a limited time.
Does this arrangement serve any public interest?

IP rights are made exclusive to creators of intellectual

properties to secure the product of their human mind, the
time and effort they have invested in developing the
intellectual knowledge. In the present time, the creative
mind has been in demand more than ever. The digital age
made it very easy to engage through the consumers and
influence the market.

With these, it is up to the legislation to enact laws to

protect these personal treasures which can have a great
impact not only to them but also to the benefit of human
kind. From the moment people honed their skills and
intellect to create, devise and simplify life the journey on
getting to the endpoint was not easy, it required hours,
experience and patience nothing short of an investment of
oneself.

It is just right to protect and safeguard these ideas to

benefit the mastermind, inventor and creator. The
exclusivity benefits the person in a way that his right over
the intellectual property is guaranteed for a period of time
where he can benefit more and make the most out of the
idea he shaped. With the existing intellectual property laws
it is now both a rewarding and fruitful experience to be part
of the skillful minds in creating beautiful things out of the
deepest corners of our awesome mind.

Although intellectual properties are protected, this

safeguard only lasts for quite some time. This is where the
rest of the people start to benefit. The exclusivity gives the
inventor ample time to benefit from his creation
economically then after such time it is now open for the
world to develop, enhance and possibly improve that idea
for the betterment of the society in general.

In line with public interest, such arrangement is

beneficial of the entire community because the idea opens a
lot of opportunities where people can pick-up some pieces of
it and create beautiful ideas coming from the person who
originated such design.

A good example would be communications and our

history regarding automobiles. The momentous
improvements from the date when these innovations were
invented up until the present day, we still benefit from the
original ideas and now we’re improving those to make life
for us easier.
