Rationale:
Students have been practicing the place value concepts and recognize that 2-digit number are made up of tens and
ones. In this lesson, students will demonstrate their understanding by participating in a place value bingo game.
This lesson draws on the big idea that “Development of computational fluency in addition and subtraction with
numbers to 100 requires an understanding of place value”.

Curricular Competencies:
develop, demonstrate, and apply mathematical understanding through play, inquiry, and problem solving.
Content:
Explain to the students the instructions and Students listen to the instructions
rules to play the Place Value Bingo. may raise hands to clarify. 20 min
Eg: the teacher will call out the numbers
Students participate in the game
using place value language “do you have a
number with a 6 in the hundreds place, a
zero in the tens place and a 4 in the ones
place?”. Student or group that reaches the
desired goal of either a line/row/blackout
will shout ”Bingo!”.
Hand out one card to each student, the
student and play the game.
