Task Description:
You are to individually create a 5 minute vlog providing oral commentary on how your own writing has been
influenced by the ideas and textual forms of a range of dystopian mentor texts studied in class, and your own wide
reading within the dystopian genre. You must include critical reflection on three pieces of your own original
writing (informative, imaginative and persuasive) about dystopia in different forms and sub-genres.
NOTE: Mentor Texts are BOTH the core and supplementary texts
WORD LIMIT FOR EACH ORIGINAL STUDENT COMPOSITION: 800 words
List your mentor texts in the final credits of the vlog using Harvard referencing style.

● Highly effective integration of 3 excerpts of student’s work, which
demonstrate insightful understanding of dystopian concepts and effective

● Discussion demonstrates highly effective evidence of literary examples
which have influenced the creation of the 3 texts
● The production quality of the 5 minute video is developed. Elements of
sound, visual framing, speed and tone have been effectively crafted. 12-10
● Effective integration of 3 excerpts of student’s work, which demonstrate
developed understanding of dystopian concepts and effective crafting
● Discussion demonstrates effective evidence of literary examples which
have influenced the creation of the 3 texts
● Poor production quality of the video (which may be under time) including
elements of sound, visual framing, speed and tone 3-1
● Little integration of excerpts of student’s work, which demonstrate an
underdeveloped understanding of dystopian concepts and elements of
crafting
● Discussion lacks a clear structure and is more like a ‘rant’ or stream of
consciousness ‘chat’ with minimal or no literary research about the chosen
topic.
