INTRODUCTION

The world itself has become a global village of technology today, especially with

the computer technology. With the advent of new technology, the world is now

witnessing an easy way to keep information / data. Hence the introduction of Computer is

one of the greatest challenges facing man today. The computer is considered as the most

important invention of the twentieth century. Computer touches every part of our lives

because of its rapid decreasing cost of processor. The invention of computer machines

has brought about the massive demands of the businessmen in any business institutions to

computerize the recording and management of data and information pertinent to client

and the institution.

Student Attendance Monitoring System is software developed for daily student

attendance in universities. It facilitates to access the attendance information of a

particular student in a particular class. The information is sorted by the operators, which

will be provided by the lecturer for a particular class.

This system will also help in evaluating attendance eligibility criteria of a student.

Since ages, attendance system has remained one of the most important systems for

evaluating the working time of students in any college or school. In short, this project is

used to mark the number of days present/absent in any academic year of students in

colleges and universities. The software system also helps in evaluating the examination
eligibility criteria for a student in the sense that only those students with attendance above

semester exams. And this system will also help in evaluating attendance eligibility

criteria of a student. In universities, attendance is important and mandatory.

Nowadays, due to the large number of students, it is efficient to use attendance

management system to manage attendance in universities. Student Attendance

Monitoring System has been developed for computerized attendance submission and it’s

monitoring by Lecturers, Head of Departments, and Dean Academic Affairs. Students

also have access to view their attendance. In this, the Lecturers engaging different classes

are required to submit the attendance of the students present in their class regularly.

Detailed guidelines for its use are under. Instructors will submit their attendance through

this Student Attendance Monitoring System.

The purpose of the proposed system is that it is very essential in every school. In

the case of STI College Tacurong, it is composed of a manual system. The instructors use

manual system in recording the attendances of students. Since in every subject they had

to manually record every attendance, it will be very easy to implement such application

that would decrease their manpower.

1.1 Company Background

Committed to provide innovative and relevant education for STIers in Sultan

Kudarat, STI College - Tacurong welcomed the school year 2012-2013 with a bigger and

better campus located at the National Highway, Brgy. Buenaflor, Tacurong City.

Inaugurated on August 15, 2012, the newly built three-storey building stands on a

10,000-square-meter lot and houses fully air-conditioned offices and classrooms, fully-

equipped computer and kitchen laboratories, a library with a wide array of research

materials, and a spacious basketball court. STI College - Tacurong’s new facilities make

a highly conducive learning environment for STIers in Tacurong City.

The opening of STI College - Tacurong’s new campus succeeds the inauguration

of the new STI Academic Center Novaliches and the groundbreaking of the soon-to-rise

STI Academic Centers in Malolos and Caloocan earlier this year. STI is set to make more

campus improvements and build more STI Academic Centers in the coming years.
 1.2 Statement of Problem

In our institution, STI College Tacurong. With the growing population and with

the current system of monitoring the attendance of students can be very hard for our

instructors. With that, they assigned homeroom secretaries in every grade level and strand.

But due to some instances, manual monitoring can be very tricky. Aligned with that, we

proposed a system that can monitor the students’ attendance.

In the daily routine in taking an attendance at school there are times that some of

the teacher make a mistake in checking the attendance of their students, it because some

students are not loyal in saying if they are present or absent, so that’s why we propose our

system to avoid that kind of problem.

The Attendance Management System, developed for daily student attendance in

senior high school of STI College Tacurong. It facilitates to access the attendance

information by using the ID number of a particular student in a particular class. This

application is built for automatically process the attendance and it is time consuming. It

includes present and absent of each student. The student attendance will be based on the

strands and section. The student can only view the attendance record if their teacher or

the staff are willing to show to the student their attendance, The staff can view as well as

modify the attendance record.

The proposed system will be capable of maintaining the efficiency of every

student attendance record through student ID. We created the attendance monitoring
system to lessen the time of the teachers in taking the attendance of every students,

Minimizing the time checking attendance of the student if there are events in STI College

Tacurong.
